Marcus Cannon named Pats 2011 Ed Block Courage Award winner
Congratulations to Marcus Cannon on being named the Patriots 2011 Ed Block Courage Award winner. Cannon has overcome treatments for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, got himself back into football shape, and appeared in the final seven games for the Patriots after being promoted to the active roster from the reserve/non-football injury list in mid-November. When he was drafted few expected him to play at all this year.
The Ed Block Courage Award is given annually to players that are an inspiration in the NFL. It is dedicated to improving the lives of neglected children and ending the cycle of abuse. The purpose is to raise awareness and prevention of child abuse.
