Default are the giants running it up this time?

I know last time they "were doing it to get some confidence back" but now they are doing it again so like is it just more confidence building?

It is not possible for the classiest team in professional sports to run up the score. Mara and Coughlin would never, ever do such a thing.

Let's not do this. We can't defend our guys if we're going to complain about other teams doing the same.

i'm not complaining about it being done. My problem is with the double standard employed by media members. Namely, the Patriots are the only team which does it.

These threads suck badly. There are numerous instances where the media reports on other teams "running up the score" whenever a blow out happens.

I'm not sure I even understand the concept of "running up the score" in sports involving adults.

i know it's a bit of a issue with kids sports, but grown ups?

Offense is out there to score points and eat up the clock.

You can do plenty of things when you are ahead:

1) Go Vanilla -- and if they still can't stop you, who can really complain. This doesn't mean you run until you have to punt the ball. The goal is to A) keep moving the chains to eat up clock. Eventually, the field is only 100 yards long and the result of moving the chains can be a score

2) Dial up some other schemes. Call it live game padded practice. This allows the team to work on things during the game and makes defenders have to cover more options on what your offense might do.

3) Opposing team offenses tend to get more pass oriented. This means the defense has the tactical advantage and may result in the other team having to punt the ball. Unless you are the Pats, in which case, we let you run the length of the field as long as it eats up clock time .

4) If you don't like it, stop them or as a fan, turn off the tv
