Re: Could This Be What Goodell Really Wants?
All cute analogies aside the owners have made the risk reward assessment that a season of chaos is worth the result of total ref control in their 11 figure business in the long run. I'm sure they never expected it to be quite this bad and are somewhat nervous but it has not reached the point where they need to cave. They're simply planning to plug their ears for another 4 1/2 months and then fire everyone, hire and train Div 1 replacements and tout their having "fixed the problem".
Personally I feel they should have agreed to grandfather the present refs pensions and changed to the sustainable 401K model for newbies, but that's why I'm not a billionaire among other reasons and it's not my money.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH
