Default Sooooooo lets go ahead and say it: Peyton Manning looked like his old self

Peyton Manning looked good last night, better than I had expected against the Steelers stout defense. That Bronocs game is looking better now as Manning has returned.

He looked pretty much like the old Peyton personally.

Thoughts?

A chunk of his throws were ducks. Very few spirals, very few balls with zip.

The first team that forces him to make tough throws in the intermediate to deep range will come away with a W. Pittsburgh couldn't do that. He's still capable of being a football genius, and we saw that last night. But his arm is not what it used to be, and it's not even close.

I don't think either team we saw last night will factor into the AFC that much in the end. Pittsburgh fans should be preparing for a down year; Denver has a decent team overall, but can't say them competing with NE, Balt or Houston come January.

I wouldn't say he looked like the old Peyton, maybe the old Peyton with a little bit less arm strength. But that's still better than at least 25 other starting QB's. I think we'll have our hands full with him when we play Denver, but it shouldn't be hard to outscore him after watching his defense.

Let's wait a few weeks. He looked good at times, but I don't know if going against the Steelers defense is as hard as you think especially with Harrison and Clark out. I think age may have started to set into that Steelers' defense.

It was a good start, but I would hold off on declaring him back as good as ever until we see him play for several weeks.

The Steelers already lost key guys to retirement ect: and also didn't have their leader Harrison on the field.

It is hard to tell if this would have been the difference, but Manning definatly took advantage of a weaker Steelers front 7

I agree with what BradyManny said. Manning can still run an offense as well as anyone and is still an accurate passer, but some of those passes were not very pretty.

The announcers were to afraid to point it out, but a lot of those passes were wobbling and didn't have any zip on them.

Thought he looked great. Glad for him.

We will deal with him when the time comes.

Hmm...I thought he look as if he aged quite a bit since his last game in the NFL. His arm and throws are just not what they used to be. He can def manage a game at the line, but in terms of dominating a good team with his arm for 60 minutes..nope! It may be enough in the AFC west, but against the elite in the AFC/NFC, it will not work. Luckily for them they won't have to face the Niners

The odd thing about Peyton that few people seem to be aware of is he never threw a really tight spiral ala Brady. At least not consistently. A lot of his balls looked like wobblers even when they covered the distance or arrived precisely on time and on target. Just like he seldom sets his feet and throws off the balls of his seemingly happy feet.
