Default OT: Rosenhaus' employee seeks $1 million in arbitration

Interesting read from Gregg Rosenthal, who writes that Rosenhaus is getting sued and that his company could be having financial issues. Considering who he represents, that would be hard to believe but it's got quite a few people talking:

Amusing but not surprising. He plays hardball with everyone, obviously, that includes his employees. They learn from one of the best *******s and give it right back. Nothing to see here.

Only part of the problem is he doesn't. What he's actually better known for these days is getting a deal done. Tends to be a bird in the hand type of negotiator. The quid pro quo allegations are the most troubling in that regard if he's trading favors for favors. Teams who sign lots of his street FA types get sweetheart deals with their studs he represents. NE being a prime example. Several veteran players dumped him prior to this season including TO is threatening to sue him over an investment referral gone bad. Drew sells (and lives) a lifestyle. Doesn't always work out as well for his clients. He'll meet you at the jailhouse door when you're released. Doesn't seem equipped to help you avoid it though. He appeared to be hip deep in and perhaps the driving force behind the Gronk TV deals and rumored deals...

We know there are certain teams that prefer not to deal with his clients (Green Bay, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle...). He is the holdout king and refuses to understand how important OTAs and camp are to success for rookies and early-career guys.

Holdouts are divisive acts that may result in more money but rarely end well. Logan Mankins' holdout is an exception - his agent is respected veteran Frank Bauer. That one got contentiousm but both sides worked it out.

As a result, Rosenhaus has lost a larger than normal number of clients this year including Dez Bryant.

Rosenhaus thinks about the money he'll make first and his clients second. It's good to see his employees standing up against his me-first ways.

I had an interesting discussion with a sports agent in Australia not too long ago. He was of the firm opinion that agents do absolutely nothing for their clients other than negotiate contracts and attempt to "maximize their brand". Outside of that there's no education, no handling of accounts or bending over backward to life skill their clients. He was a firm believer that most agents were in it for money, fame and notoriety many often viewing themselves as more important or bigger than the clients they represented.

It was particularly interesting hearing this from a prominent and successful person within the industry.

Another flattering piece on Rosenhaus. Seems clear he broke the rules and there is evidence to prove it but the NFLPA may claim that being prior to the new CBA and their decertification they can't do a thing about it. He's just a sleezy snake oil salesman and an enabler - until you cross him.
