Re: Jets Safeties: we're going to give TEs something to think about
In 2009 and 2010, the Jets safeties could regularly do this against guys like Welker (see the Eric Smith hit against Welker in Week 2, 2010), get away with it, and have it be effective. In 2011, that didn't work as well because guys like Gronk and Hernandez are bigger, stronger, and used to taking those hits. I say let Landry try to blow Gronk up. He'll be carted off the field five minutes later.
Re: Jets Safeties: we're going to give TEs something to think about
I'd be much more concerned if these two said something like "We'll be facing some very good TEs this year and it will be a challenge to stop them. Our number one priority, though, is to be ready for Buffalo on Sept. 9."

Right now they have to focus on winning the off-season Super Bowl for the fourth consecutive time, though. And I think with those comments, along with the spectacular secretive wildcard practice they are again in prime position.
Kudos to them. 4 in a row.

The Jets are going to win the AFC East this year. The Patriots better hope for a Wild Card.
The Patriots had their chance it last season. They were 14-2 with a first round bye. They couldn't get it done. They're not going to go 14-2 again. A step back is coming."

Thats the sort of thing i'd expect a professional, level-headed sportsman to say.
In other words, not a Jest.

Ooooooooooooooooooh. Scary.
Some Patriots gofer is making copies of that story right now, re-sizing it to fit perfectly in the lockers of the tight ends for game day.
The public health authorities need to check the electrolyte drinks in the Jets' cooler. They may restore needed vitamins and minerals, but they also make you as dumb as a bag of barbells.
