Default Another Cautionary Tale: Sapp is broke...

Changed his tune on Williams, too doing a complete 180. Probably thinking ahead about filing suit down the line with ample rationale that football made me stupid.

Quote:
Per the TMZ reports, Sapp owes more than $6.7 million, including nearly $1 million to the IRS and hundreds of thousands of dollars in “support payments and alimony to at least 4 different baby mamas.”

Sapp claims $6.45 million in assets, which includes 240 pairs of Jordan sneakers and sandals, a Lion skin rug and a large nude women painting. He also has a De Grisogono watch but notes it has scratches on the crystal and band.

Sapp currently earns $540,000 per year working for NFL Network -- $45,000 per month – but according to the report his contract expires in August and he does not know if he will be renewed.

Every now and then, someone comes along who is a great player on the field but who makes you long for the day when we didn't have a 24 hour news cycle and wouldn't have known too much about "who" the guy really is off the field.

Sapp is one of those people. I have to admit that I used to admire his play, but everything about him, his ideas, his personality makes me wish that I didn't know anything else about him.

Forgive me if I don't get too emotional and heartbroken at this news.

Why am I not surprised? You would think even the dumbest of these athletes who squander a small country's net worth in a few short years would at least put away a million or two for a rainy day. But as John Belushi used to say, "But NNNOOOO!" I have enormous sympathy for the truly needy, but not one ounce for cats like Sapp, and it appears the list gets larger every day.......

$540,000 + his pension is sufficient income for his debt, and he should liquidate some of his assets .. it is stupid to think he is going to be able to walk away from his debt obligations..

Do it the old fashioned way, suck it up and figure it out.. this is a reason for the NFL Network not to hire him back.. besides being an absolute butt hole.

I looked online. Between 2000-2007 alone, Sapp pulled in about $43.6 million in real dollars. Granted the agent and taxes eat up much of that, but he probably made at least $25-30 million after taxes and agent fees during his career. I mean how do you lose that kind of money?

BTW, why does anyone need 240 pairs of sneakers and sandals? I get why some women have hundreds of pairs of shoes, but at least that makes more sense because certain shoes go with certain outfits. But sneakers aren't usually match with different outfits.

...that's what i was thinking...holy crap that is money NOT well spent. Where is the value for the NFL networks's dollar?

At the end of the day all of these hires are just opinions. What does what they say even really mean?

I feel bad for guys like this but at the end of the day, they only really have themselves to blame. That kind of lifestyle is not sustainable. They don't really live in the real world do they....

That pretty much sums it up. Ever since Sapp tried to humiliate Russ Hochstein by attempting to "interview" him at the Super Bowl years ago I've had no stomach for the bug-eyed toad. I would love for the NFLN not to renew his contract.
