Re: Skins & Cows File Complaint Against NFL & NFLPA
Good for them.
Not a fan of either owner - especially Snyder - but this arbitrary, after-the-fact justice is typical God-ell.
I think the most salient point is that all the transactions were approved by the NFL - retrospective rule making is utter BS.

Worth noting that a lot of players wanted teams punished for frontloading deals into the uncapped year....some players even lobbied for teams that did to be punished under the new CBA just as much as the NFL did.
Alas, naive people will just blame Goodell.
They were told not to do it, they did anyway. Idiots.

Legally Goodell has little to stand on as the 'agreement' among owners was collusion. However I'm sure these self absorbed billionaires have alienated their peer group fellow owners with this blatant FU approach to the collective process that the vast majority followed. Not that either of these arrogant bastids care.

But were they told in a manner, through a mechanism, that will hold legal water? I for one want Goodell's face pushed into this mess, because he overstepped with the Pats' penalties and got away with it. He and the NFL front office shouldn't be allowed to rule through memo's that express their preferences for what rules should be in force. Rule making is for the owners to do. When a contract is approved, it is approved.
It's hard because Snyder and Jones are very unlikable. But not that hard.

Meh, I don't really care how he did it. The NFLPA also requested the NFL made it part of the agreement that the 'Skins and 'Boys got punished. Other owners backed it when the CBA was signed and the owners had to agree to that detail.
I live in England where Manchester United are going for an unprecedented 13th Premier League title in 20 years....I'm a big fan of the cap, the parity it creates and a fan of watching anyone suffer who try and screw everyone else over in it.

It really wasn't. The agreement was about accounting. And basically said if you try to throw future money into the 2010 cap with atypical manuevers, they will not allow it, and recast it to the future years it was truly intended for. Thats not collusion, and there was zero impact on player compensation.

They were told IIRC 6 separate times that this would happen.
