Default Denver almost had Haynesworth

Ty Warren will visit Denver this week too.

Mike Shanahan said today that the Redskins would have cut defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth if the Patriots had not traded for him. According to Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network, however, the Redskins had another potential trading poartner-they almost traded Haynesworth to the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos are desperate for defensive tackles so it is unknown why they could not consummate this trade. They have money problems so that could have been the issue. The Broncos may have dodged a bullet. Haynesworth may find some motivation to actually play for a contender like the Patriots but likely would have been a headache for the rebuilding Broncos just like he was for the rebuilding Redskins.

Refresh my memory but wasn't Rodney Harrison about to sign with Denver back in 03 when we called up? If I remember right, he was actually at the stadium about to sign a contract when his agent told him the Patriots just called.

Or am I just insane?

That was the Raiders.

Im not sure, but I remember that the Pats picked Rodney up at the Airport in a Ford Taurus and Rodney said something like "this is my kind of team"

Rodney will always be one of my favorite Patriots. It will be a travesty if he does not make the HOF.

Not too worry; Haynesworth won't be a Patriot for long; Denver is welcome to him then...

On WEEI today the over-under was 8 weeks
