Damn, guess so. Jets get 1.8 back for Jenkins, 5.8 back for Gholston, and 1 back for Woody, so about $8.6M more space. Still in a pretty bad situation, though.

De Maurice: But you owners still won't be spending enough on players with the $120.4M cap!
Goodell: Well let me see what I can do here to sweeten the deal. Something clever that has benefit for me too. Win-win.
De Maurice: Mo money!
Goodell: OK De my man, here's what I'll do. Way inside the language I'll insert wording that eliminates the cap hit amortization in 2011 for players cut before say April of this year. That way, teams will have more cap room = more money for players!
De Maurice: Brilliant! But doesn't this punish well run franchises?
Goodell: De my man, I've already leaked this out through my Jets fan base. No owners went ballistic at the rumor so if you take a low profile here bro, we'll sneek this blatant favoritism clause in and players will make tens of millions more money! What's not to like?
De Maurise: You Da Man!
Goodell: My NY Jets. 2011 SB Champs!

Exactly. They're now 8ish million under the cap, but have to sign rookies and have all of their own FAs to worry about.

are you positive it is only 8.6???

rumors had them 20 million open in space. As I said before I can live w/ 8.6 b/c they gotta sign rookies with a good portion of that $$$

don't forget the 10million dollar franchise tag on david harris. there is no way he is making 10mil a year. that will go down by atleast 4 million, and sanchez/bart scott can still restructure contracts.

sanchez deal was basically made for him to restructure in 2011.

So why exactly would other teams not be given a window to take advantage of this situation? I see this benefiting the Jets and.................anybody?

Curious that the Jets cut a bunch of guys long before they had to and just happen to benefit from it later. Almost like they knew it was going to happen.
jmt57 and TheSolderKing like this.
