Thanks for the lookout.

I think Miguel said that the Colts would have about 15+ mill of space after restructuring. This takes up 8.6 of that. Another 5 has to go towards draft picks and such, so the Colts - no surprise - will not be players in the FA markets this offseason. Now that certainly hasn't stopped them from being good in the past, I don't expect them to fall off much this season either.

In doing this, what other UFAs are they at risk of losing?

I know of a couple of players they are at risk of losing Nick Harper and Cato June and what their status is I'm not sure referring to UFA's.

Colts free agents, from Miguel's spreadsheet (www.PatsCap.com/2007fas.xls):

That's incorrect. Since Freeney was already counting against the 2007 cap, the net cap hit is the $8.6 million minus his 2007 salary minus the 2007 proration of prior signing bonuses minus the salary of the player that Freeney displaced from the Top 51 list.

Thanks for the update and the FA/ impact. The Colts still are Gonna have a tough time signing Rhodes, Harper, and June. Its their turn to start losing impact players to FA. Lets see how good they are at maintaining their level of play, and living under the cap while constantly seeing FA's leaving for $$$.

How could he be already counting against the 2007 cap if was a UFA? I know he had voidable years in his deal, including a $1M projected salary for 2007, but the last two years of his rookie deal were obviously voided some time ago or there would have been no reason to tag him. And if they prorated bonus into 2007 back in 2002, wouldn't that remain a plus and not a minus as if in effect dead cap?

But if his contract was voided awhile back, then his 2007 salary wouldn't be on the books.

Why would his signing bonus prorations just disappear? They'd be a charge, not a credit.

If his 2007 salary was already on the books as above, then this wouldn't apply.
