Yes, he was on the run, and clearly not at 100% doing so. He also didn't have the yardage in front of him that Aikman claimed. There was no way he was getting 10+ yards on that run. An incomplete pass means it's a 56 yard field goal attempt. Blaming the throw is just ridiculous. He was put into a position where he needed to make a play, but his receivers were covered. Brady and Manning would both have been just as screwed. Well, they'd have been more screwed, really, since even an injured Favre is more mobile than either of them.

I was actually rooting for the Saints FG kicker to shank it in OT so Favre would have a chance for a pick-6 in OT.

Yes, I'm sure the multiple fumbles that were lost, the multiple fumbles that were recovered but still resulted in loss of yards, the multiple fumbles which could have gone the other way had absolutely nothing to do with the score.

I mean, as long as fumbles don't give the ball to the other team, anyway.

Exactly. The people blaming Favre and Favre alone for losing this game should also remember how many times the Vikings (specifically Adrian Peterson) put the ball on the ground yesterday to kill drives.

I was really pulling for him. Before the game I was rooting for the Saints, but playing in that loud dome, under pressure, after being injured and making play after play, that Favre showed grit, I tell you.

Reminds me of that scene in "Hang 'em High" when the judge announces to the town to wake up (late at night) to see "the best there ever was" in lawmen, has come in with 3 desperados in tow.

If Favre wins that game and then won teh superbowl he is the greatest of all time, no doubt.

But he blew it.

Mighty casey struck out.

How horribly sad. And now he can't rest until he comes back and tries again.

I really, REALLY wish you guys would lay off Favre. The man is a first Ballot hall of famer, one of the best football players of ALL TIME.

I think some of us are just a little bit jealous of Minnesota that they got Favre and we're stuck with Brady. I've never said this on the board before because I didn't want to get flamed, but screw it. I think Favre is better than Brady.

There, I said it.

Sure some people will throw out the fact that Brady has three times as many Super Bowl wins as Favre, or that Favre's # of interceptions could be confused for the Gross Domestic Product of a small country, but that's the Gunslinger in him, you live by it and die by it.

As we know from watching Brett in the NFL over all these years he's a humanitarian and a man of the people. I can't tell you how many times I've picked up the newspaper and seen where Brett has stopped at the side of the road to help somebody refuel their car or change a tire, and he's a guy who cares about people. So whatever happens he will, of course, do the right thing. He will probably, if I had to bet, will step aside and let Tavaris continue as the Quarterback of the Vikings. Because that's the kind of guy he is, putting others first.

Now that that unpleasantness is behind us, and on a completely unrelated note, I was surfing the web the other day and I came upon this ad for a new burger at McDonalds and I think you all should give it a try it looks really delicious.

I posted somewhere else that putting this loss on Favre is just stupid.

They wouldn't have been in this game if it wasn't for him and they would have walked out with a victory had his RBs and WRs kept the football in their hands and not on the ground.

That game was an absolute disgrace to protecting the football. It's really a shame because despite their 5 turnovers or whatever it was the Saints still needed an OT field goal to win. The Vikings would have handled them if it had not been for the stupid mistakes

Favre had ONE responsibility on 3rd and 15... do NOT turn the ball over. My cousin was rooting for the Vikes and before that play said "Favre don't try to be a hero". What does Favre do, he throws accross his body accross the field for what? an extra 5-10 yards. Longwell probably would have hit the 51 yarder. Favre did the ONE thing he could to lose that game at that point, although his RBs put him in that situation to begin with.
