Default OT: Browns expected to cut ties with Stallworth

Donte Stallworth's Browns tenure likely drawing to a close as suspension ends: NFL Insider

Quote:
The Browns have no intention of bringing back receiver Donte' Stallworth when his one-year suspension is lifted by Commissioner Roger Goodell after the Super Bowl.
Obviously some issues with this guy, but we kinda need some WR help...

It would be nice to bring him back he would be a perfect 3rd reciever lets see if he wants to come back or if the FO and owner wants him around.

I'd be just fine with Moss, Stallworth and Edelman while we wait for Welker to return. Something tells me it's not happening but I'm all for it.

He wasn't any problem while he was here, why not? He'd actually have a bigger role now too.

I'm not so sure. Did Stallworth make a big mistake/criminal act that cost another person their life? Absolutely. IIRC this was Stallworth's first brush with the law, unlike some others in the league and some who have even been signed by the Pats. (Moss/C. Dillon)
If you believe in second chances, you sign a guy like Stallworth if you think that he fits as WR #3.

We have had (and still have) some players who aren't angels. Moss for one. Faulk had his pot issue last offseason (not that I care, just for reference). It was a terrible accident he was in but it was an accident, he's not a woman beater or something like that which is worse, IMO, as it's intentional.

They let him go even prior to the car accident, so I'm not sure why there would be any expectation of him returning after all that's happened.

Two possible reasons :

1) He'd be cheaper now.
2) Our WR aren't as good as they were then.

I don't know why they let him go; he was productive I thought. If $$ was the issue then the Pats, imo, should bring him back. He would be cheaper than Malcolm Floyd or Antonio Bryant.
