LMAO...If they go after Pete Carrol I will die laughing. Watching that clown destroy what he has at USC to flunk again in the NFL.

So why did they hire Mora anymore? I think everyone saw this coming as a bad hire, but they didn't even stick with their guy...So why the hell did they hire him a year ago? If I was a Seahawks fan I'd feel like the season was absolutely wasted, a total year of absolute nothing.

The only way I can see Pete Carroll leaving USC is if he needs to pull a John Calipari and hightail it out of town one step ahead of the NCAA posse.

Carroll hasn't done any more as an NFL HC than Mora.

Here's a link to the story. It's also at USAToday.

His name gets floated every year or so after his success with the Trojans, but it never happens. A head coach at the college level is well-paid, omnipotent as far as leverage over players, doesn't need to manage money and contracts, and needs only keep the money source (trustees/administration) happy to stay coaching.

He has seen the NFL and didn't do particularly well there, so what's the incentive to return? I guess if USC's program is tanking and in a downward spiral now, that might be an incentive to go elsewhere, but any NFL career will likely not have the longevity a college career would. He is a genuinely nice guy, which means he will have issues with professional players much like Marv Lewis traditionally does as a "players'" coach..

IF this past year is USC "tanking" than I'd hate to see them when they're good.

Why is he going to leave where he is the most loved in the world on the west coast, doing what he;s doing. Let them see a couple seasons of Pete the poodle in the NFL and suddenly those USC days seem far away. But if this can end this Trojan run I'm all for it

Clearly - but he has a better resume at this point and I would consider him to be an intriguing hire at this point for an NFL team.

I think Brian Billick may be getting a call soon up there.

Billick was a pretty decent HC.

Mora had one season as overseer of the M*A*S*H unit that was Seattle. Carroll's failed at multiple stops in the NFL and is in trouble at the college level because he can't seem to control his team enough for it to follow the rules. Firing Mora so that the incoming front office man has a clean slate was something I could understand, even if I questioned the wisdom of doing it. Firing Mora, hiring Carroll, and then bringing in the new top dog is just bad management.

I know many here will disagree, but I honestly don't think that Pete Carroll has clearly established that he isn't qualified to be a good NFL HC.

First, let me state the obvious -- BB is to Pete Carroll what Red Auerbach is to Pitino or something.

That said, unlike Pitino Carroll has never had a reasonably fair shot in the NFL. His one year with the Jets barely counts. His three years here were marked by two things mostly:

1. a GM who undercut him at every opportunity

2. a GM who absolutely SUCKED at drafting players.

I'm not sure that BB could have done that much better than Carroll's 10-6, 9-7 and 8-8 records if he had been stuck with Bobby Grier either, is really what I'm saying.

Yeah, I've hated this guy ever since that.
