Re: First to Worst Quarterbacks in the AFC East - Rank them 1 to 4
I'm really tired of the "high school QB" moniker attached to Cassell-- that's a load of crap. He went to USC. He decided to stay and sat behind two Heisman trophy winners.
If he had gone to 100 other colleges, some of them very good football schools but without the huge depth of talent you see in a top 10 school, he would have likely been a solid starter for years.
If he had gone to a Cal, Utah, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Illinois, Pitt, North Carolina, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Colorado, etc. etc. he would have played a lot and likely shown the abilities he showed in the workouts that got him drafted.
The scouts will find you if you hae talent, whether you are Flacco at Delaware or the backup at USC or Florida. Maybe the backup at USC or Florida would have beaten everyone else out for the job at Delaware. Maybe they would have beaten out the starters at UCLA or Florida State, for that matter.
