Default Would you trade...

...Reggie Bush for Maroney?

This is the first year I have entered into a FF league and would like a seasoned vets opinion. I have Reggie Bush and my other backs are W. Parker and C. Taylor. I think Bush may be a stud this year but then again he is sharing carries with Duece and the scoring is all the same for receiving/rushing TD's and yards.

If you could explain why you think this would be a good or bad trade I would appreciate it. Thanks for the help!

my guess is you would only entertain this trade for Maroney only because of the homer factor.

Both RBs are on great offensive teams, both are game breakers, but you have to like Bush better because he has the greater natural talent. Consider Maroney's injury issues to boot, and you definitely have to go Reggie Bush.

If your league rewards a point per reception then that would make it NO CONTEST in favor of Bush.

My reasoning behind this trade has nothing to do with the homer factor.

My reasoning is; Bush splits carries and Maroney is the main man. I am hesitant because of Maroney's injury history but I am intrigued because of his potential to have a monster year. Plus I don't think that Bush is going to reach the amount of receptions that he had last year.

Here is our scoring system:

FG - Field Goals 3 points
Plus 2 points for a FG of 50+ Yds

FL - Fumble Lost, Including ST plays -2 points
Pa2P - Passing Two-point Conversion 2 points
PaInt - Passing Interception -2 points
PaTD - Passing TD 6 points
PaYd - Passing Yards 0+ PaYds = 1 point for every 25 PaYds

Re2P - Receiving Two-point Conversion 2 points
ReTD - Receiving TD 6 points
ReYd - Receiving Yards 0+ ReYds = 1 point for every 10 ReYds

Ru2P - Rushing Two-point Conversion 2 points
RuTD - Rushing TD 6 points
RuYd - Rushing Yards 0+ RuYds = 1 point for every 10 RuYds

XP - Extra Points 1 point

Bush was babied early last year plus Payton struggled to figure out how best to use him. As December rolled around, Payton found better ways to make use of Bush and used him more and he finished strong. I'd stick with Bush because I think he's going to play more like he did at the end of last year than at the beginning.

Regards,
Chris

I like Maroney better as it sounds like there's no bonus points per catch. I like Bush quite a lot but they have Deuce which limits Bush some and more than some at the goaline. It's not a no-brainer, and I can see the other side, but if I'm picking I take Maroney first.

at the moment, no, i wouldn't make that trade.

We know what Bush brings to the table, we still don't know how well Maroney will do without Dillon around. He looked good against Carolina, but I am curious how his shoulder will hold up being the top RB on the team and taking the majority of the punishment.

I'd see how Maroney performs after a few games and then you would have a better idea....but for now, I'd stick with Bush.

Thanks for the replies. You all have been a great help and are verifying my concerns with both Bush aand Maroney.

I just hope that whatever decision I make, I'm not saying "DOH!" by week 4.

Something you may want to consider, if you don't do this trade, is to find the player who has Deuce and see if you can't land him. Handcuffing two rb's that will share the load is always a safe strategy. I did that with Dunn and Norwood in a draft recently.

I see what you are saying but I don' twant to give up Willie Parker and I don't think the guy with Duece will agree to a trade of Duece for Chester Taylor. I really don't have too much left to offer.

In my league Brady, Brees, Manning, & Palmer ALL went in the first. Then after I picked up my second RB (Bush, since Maroney was already gone)McNabb went in the second and then in the 3rd, the pick before mine, Bulger was taken. I am not liking my QB situation (Roethlisberger and Kitna) although I did land Gates, but I'm not trading him.

Here is my team:
QB's: Kitna, Roethlisberger
RB's: Parker, Bush, Chester Taylor
WR's: T. J. Whosyourmomma, Ward, Stallworth, Daryll Jackson, M. Furrey
TE's: Gates, Graham
K: Akers
DST: Pats

What does everyone think? Should I get rid of a WR and try to pick up another RB via trade (since there are no FA's left)? Whatabout my QB situation? I didn't think I was going to get this involved in it!

Agreed. In my opinion, fantasy football is about sure things. The people who like to take risks tend to get four duds for every one monster move. I think it's entirely possible that Maroney will have a better fantasy season than Bush, but I wouldn't bet on it before Week 1.

The injury factor is the biggest thing for me. If you're in a 12 team league and you trade Bush and then Maroney goes down, you probably don't have a premier running back (if you do, you're already in great shape to kick some butt in this league). I'd take the sure thing and stick with Bush for now. If after four weeks Bush's stats aren't great but the other guy is still high on him, maybe you reintroduce the trade.
