I do like your de prospects. I'd just like to see what Hightower can do at LDE. I know you can never have enough pass rushers. I think Donta is stout enough to slide into dt on 3RD and 10+. Have the shiny, new toy like Ansah or Jordan at LDE. But, I do want to see what we have in Bequette and Francis. Cunningham isn't chopped liver either. And, that Ninko guy seems to make a lot of plays
Ogletree's been on my short list of most intriguing prospects for a while, thanks mainly to Brother Manx, who has led the pack on this one. You could potentially pick up a guy like Margus Hunt or Devin Taylor (who has the frame to bulk up quite a bit) later on. It all depends on how the coaching staff sees Hightower's best fit, and on who declares and where the values fall in the draft. Ogletree could stay in school, and he could easily be snatched up before we pick. The Bears, Ravens and Giants are all teams that could be very interested in someone with his skill set.

Did you see the speed I highlighted in that clip earlier. Yikes. Bearing in mind that he's probably not a 4-3 MLB in the NFL, if he declares, it will be interesting to see where his stock is if he runs in that Mychal Kendricks/Luke Kuechly range.

And btw, he got to play with a ragdoll in the Georgia Tech game:

Ogletree is a beast. The idea of Hightower moving up on the DL and drafting Ogletree at LB has some appeal.

Really like this idea - could move it way up towards the top of my "want" draft list. I suppose Spikes goes to SLB, Mayo to MLB and Ogletree to WLB.

At this point I'm leaning away from the "trade back" approach, feeling that the Pats will be lucky to get a stud in the late 1st round (hopefully 32). I'm kind of leaning towards whoever is available out of Ansah, Ogletree and Richardson. Jesse Williams and Tank Carradine are also options, but those 3 are sort of my impact options. I'd add Jonathan Cooper, but I still want to go defense if at all possible. So your guys are pretty much my short list at the moment.

I like Kawann Short tough there are concerns on his motor and attitude. Ansah is interesting because he can easily play inside but he is so raw...hmm i dont know.

Nix would be the best option if he declares.

Bring a couple of DT, a LB that can play coverage, a DB and an OL and im happy.
Scott and Francis have one year deals. Cunningham is a free agent after next season and has proven to be better coming from inside than from outside.

I think the only person I agree with OP as a non-resign is Branch...and he's already gone.

Just went back to look at your original mock. It really is a tough call for me to choose between Jonathan Cooper and Ezekiel Ansah. Both have the incredible athleticism that could enable them to be the best at their respective positions given time. I think that right now, my top 5 favourite picks for the Patriots are:

1. Jon Cooper

2. Ziggy Ansah

Cooper gets the nod because he's more ready to produce straight away

3. Alec Ogletree

Another athletic stud. Think he could be had in the 2nd as he's probably a WILL only

4. Terrance Williams

5. Jesse Williams

Of all the DT's, he's the most likely to produce that Wilfork performance against the Jets with the caveat that I haven't watched Nix yet.

That's my top 5 right now (still sad about Carradine) although 1 & 2 are neck and neck.

What about Sheldon Richardson?

I'm happy with 2, 3 or 5. I love Jonathan Cooper, I just want to go defense.

And picking up Carradine in the 3rd round might be a nice move.

BTW, Kyle Long is up to #74 on NFL Draft Scout's most recent rankings.

1. Sheldon Richardson

Just don't think he's a BB type, either character wise or scheme fit.

2. Offense v defense

Said my piece on this but this is an offensive league so I think we should stay strong there, paricularly as our offense is teetering on the brink a little. Welker, Edelman, Woodhead are all FA, Mankins and Vollmer are very injury prone and the other OL, whilst having done well are still a bit of a mishmash

BTW, don't know if you are aware, but Cooper has played OC in the past and I've also seen it suggested he has the skillset for OT. One other thing, it was in the commentary of a Pats game although I don't remember which one that the colour guy talked about the OL not giving ground in pass protect giving Brady the pocket to step up in to. Watch Cooper's film again - He never gives ground in pass protect. Thought it might help in his Patriots appeal at the time.

3. Kyle Long.

Just haven't watched him. Can't get through an Oregon game. So boring.
