I agree that I'd rather not use a 1st round pick on a receiver. You can get guys like Mike Wallace in the 3rd or a guy like Antonio Brown in the 6th if you have good scouting. Problem is that Pats seem to just struck out at wideout, regardless of round.

A. Re-sign Welker & Edelman.
B. Re-sign Welker and draft a WR early.
C. Let Welker walk and pick up another smaller receiver (Amendola, RFA Cruz, Henderson, Jennings).
D. Another change in philosophy, letting Welker go and we see a 2007 v2 (Bowe, Wallace) and Edelman plays a more explosive home run style slot receiver.
E. Let Welker walk and sign a few cheaper FA WRs and draft a WR early (Edwards, Roby, Gibson).
Option A no doubt

I would use a first round pick on a wr if that wr is Robert Woods, Jordan Matthews etc.It depends on who it is.

Markus Wheaton, Stedman Bailey and Quinton Patton all have some deep threat capabilities but I on't think there's a Mike Wallace in there. Those three are more rounded receivers.

Jordan Matthews reminds me of Larry Fitzgerald as crazy as that sounds. He is the cousin of Jerry Rice.I am surprised that people are not putting him in the first round discussion.

Still a junior and there hasn't been a great sense he'll declare. I can't speak for others, but I haven't seen Vandy this year which is why I'm not talking about him.

ah thanks!

i would have to specify this. i wasn't just looking for a speedster who alsways go deep. i was looking more for a guy who is able to go deep and will do the other things too. i think your answer took it exactly!

#2) What this offense is missing, and has been lacking since Moss was traded, is a speedy deep threat.

I agree about #2 but see it way down on the priority list, hopefully not with a #1 pick:
Signing Welker
Safety
CB
Offensive line
Additional dpeth every where
