Pick 48- Juron Criner, WR: a few character concerns but the talent outweighs them. True Playmaker

Pick 63- Brandon Boykin, CB: typical pats pick, Boykin is a jack of all trades player who can also play receiver

Pick 94- Chris Givens, WR: the past couple of years the patriots have double dipped with skill position players and I think they do the same this year at receiver.

Pick 126- Donte Paige-Moss, DE/LB: major character concerns but as a 4th round pick the patriots are willing to gamble as they did last year with Ryan Mallett. Like Mallett, Moss is a first round talent.

Smith is not worth a 1st round pick. Also, he's more of a "strong safety" than a Coverage safety. In fact, Smith seems to be the antithesis of what the Patriots look for in a safety since Smith has issues with wrapping up in his tackles and doing well in coverage.

Boykin broke his leg at the Senior Bowl. I don't see him going until later in the draft since he'll start the season on the PUP in all likelihood.

As for Chris Givens, I just don't see the Patriots reaching for a guy with a grade of a UDFA.

Taking Harrison at 31 is too high, I really want him in the 2nd though.

On Boykin, I've read that he might be able to perform at the combine, or at least his pro day. Seems his injury wasn't as serious as thought.

As for Givens, I see him mostly being given a second or third round grade. Not sure where you are seeing him as an UDFA.

There's actually two WR Christopher Givens, this year!!

One's an early Rounder Flanker:

Wake Forest ~ Tak's Pick

The other's a UFA Split End:

Miami Ohio ~ Bruinz' Reference, I assume

What a load of BS. Smith has absolutely no issues with wrapping up his tackles or doing well in coverage.

Harrison Smith vs Stanford and Miami - YouTube

He went up against the best QB in college Luck and he performed very well in coverage. He has absolutely no problems wrapping up his targets, which then immediately fall to the ground. He can also pass rush succesfully, as he did vs Luck, when he forced Luck to throw an INT.
Great hands also, he had 7 INT last year. This year none, because the opposing teams didnt want to test him deep after what happened the year before.
This guy is the best safety in this draft.

A few thoughts...

Peter Konz would be great but he is probably a mid 1st rd pick ala the Pouncey bros. Not good value. I think Michael Brewster gives us the best value and probably fits our system better.

I don't get all the Dontari Poe love. He has all the physical components but I don't think he is as talented as say Josh Chapman who could be had with a lower pick.

I definitely agree that Crick should be on the Pats radar. Not sold on Wolfe though.

Watched the tape on both Wolfe and Smith. Definitely agree on Wolfe at either 27 or 31, he has a motor and nasty streak, wants to kill somebody on every play (which by the way M. Williams doesn't have). Not sold on Smith as a 1st rounder, I didn't see anything that wowed me. He was a JAG against Stanford, and Miami had a horrible QB. No earlier than 48 for him and I wouldn't cry if the Pats passed on him.

This guy is the best safety in this draft.

*ROFLMAO* As per most of your posts, you are talking out your arse. Smith is not even close to being the best safety in the draft.

Showing a "highlight" real from 2 games doesn't prove a damn thing.

Smith is a 5th year senior who had all of 7 interceptions his entire career. He's got below average hip flexibility and is not considered to be a good coverage safety.

Instead of being all over the guys jock, you should actually do some research and look at more than just highlight reels.

Mayock has Smith rated pretty high. I would prefer Iloka from Boise State. most of the articles state he can also play some corner. BB would love that type of versatility.

You are the one who is talking out of your arse. First you claim that Smith has trouble with tackling, which is absolute BS.
Smith was the one who was tested by the best QB in this draft, and did very well against him, not the other highly rated safeties in this draft.
None of the QBs Barron faced are in the same class as Luck. Not even close.

Ofcourse it proves at least one damn thing. It proves that your claim that he has issues with wrapping up his targets is a lie. Once he has his hands on a target, that target goes down immediately. He doesnt go for the highlight hit, he actually makes the tackle and the target doest escape.

You talk about research? If you did your research, you wouldn't be so ignorant, you would know that, until 2 season ago, he played mostly linebacker. He started on his team as a linebacker, and that was the position he played mostly in his first 2 years.
Then, 2 seasons ago, he was moved permanently at safety, and had 7 INT that season. This season, teams knew what happened the year before, they didn't want to test him deep.
So his career as a starter at safety in college is only 2 years, not 5 or 4. Instead of exposing yourself as an ignorant poster, next time stop talking out of your arse and do some research.

"below average hip flexibility" ROFLMAO. What a load of BS. The guy is a great great tackler, no matter what your ignorant claims are, has great hands, he's also very good as a pass rusher.
