Hey y'all, UCLA fan checking in here, I just wanted to with you guys the best of luck with Matt. You are going to LOVE this guy on special teams. He's pretty much the best special teams player I've ever seen, and that's no understatement. He's an absolute beast of a gunner and a beast of a kickoff returner. He was in on almost every special teams tackle for us and is one heck of a kick off returner. Just hits the hole hard and has the speed to take it to the house.

He doesn't really have a position, he never stuck at WR for us cause he couldn't catch, and he never got a ton of time at DB. But he's a solid 6-0 200 with 4.4 type of speed and with your coaching he might contribute at safety one of these days. I don't really think he has the hips to play corner but he does love contact. But best of luck with him, I think he can make it.

Izzo is still here every year isn't he? The Pats have got to believe he has the potential to be Izzo-like to take him with a 5th.

Hey, hope you stick around to watch some Pats games to see your boy in action. I hope he lives up to the hype that you're giving him.

Andrews and Spann should be nervous about this one.

This should appease everybody who wanted a tall DB drafted, don't you think?

Slater returns a kickoff ... hard to find stuff on this kid.

The PE.com article linked above make me love this pick. Guys are being taken first-day for return skills and little else.

Besides, I went to UCLA.

(I must be one of the few people in history to transfer from UCLA to Ohio State. But it wasn't particularly voluntary.)

Character/attitude matter in these ST roles. I.e., you need to be like Kelley Washington, not Bethel Johnson.

He's more of a special teamer, and as I already pointed out, he's actually 5'10.5", not the listed 6' people are throwing around. I like the pick though, as he's a good KR (scored three TD's and averaged 30.9 yards per KR in 2007), and gunner.

You're not the only one - a great ST player in both coverage and returns will make me very happy if he's as good as is being advertised.
