Pete Caroll- I just dont see Belichick drafting a Pete Caroll defensive player... I know people will say, well they drafted Matt Cassell and Oscar Lua... Well Lua is gone, and Cassel is a QB.... No way they draft a USC player that high..

I just dont think Belichick is a fan of Tickle me Pete, he wont draft players from a former Pats coach, just my opinion...

"Tickle me Pete" (??) has established the most prestigious college football program over the last 5 years which far and away have recruited and produced the greatest collegiate athletes in the country. Why wouldn't we want to tap into that pipeline?

Tickle me Pete is a great college coach, I may be wrong beside's Carson Palmer, name some great USC players under tickle me pete that has made a great NFL impact...

I think Belichick will not draft a USC product that high, if Gholston or Mcfadden , or Long are off the board , which it looks like they will , they trade down to draft Mayo, or harvey..

It's a pretty good policy to avoid highly touted Carroll players in the draft. The bust factor is through the roof.

Fortunately Belichick is smart enough to separate the player from the coach, and to not shoot himself in the foot because of mere dislike for a coach, which, in this case, probably doesn't even exist.

I mean, are you suggesting that if Vince Wilfork played for USC we wouldn't have drafted him? That's preposterous. How about Brandon Meriweather? Bill was smart enough to see the talent amidst the directionless program.

If we don't draft Ellis it will be because he's not the best fit for the team relative to another player on the board. That said, I think he's gone at 5 to KC otherwise they wouldn't have traded Allen.

Eh? Polamalu is pretty good. Carson Palmer is pretty good. Lofa Tatupu is pretty good.

What is this? Rocky IV and jingoism gone wild? Let's evaluate players individually and not think lazily by painting them with a broad brush. If the Patriots did that, they wouldn't be a very good team.

Yes, USC under Carroll produces a lot of heavily hyped players who benefit from the level of talent around them.

BUT

USC under Carroll consistently recruits some of the nation's finest athletes. It would be foolish to ignore them.

Did you steal these sediments from people under the "duke theory" of talking trash about Duke players because Hurley, Lattener, and Jay Williams sucked?

I mean, it you are going to hold Carroll responsible, you have to make the case that somehow he is coaching these guys in way that actually are detrimental to their pro career. That is a tough case to make.

Think of it this way. Thomas Jones kind of sucks. Billy McMullen (WR to Eagles) sucks bad and I don't even knows if he plays. D'bickshaw could be less than advertised.........so Al Groh is a crappy coach and both Long and Albert are red flagged?
