This was a surprise to me:

61. Bryan Kehl OLB BYU

5th-ranked LB on the board, behind Rivers, Mayo, Lofton and Connor.

I have noticed his climb. He was a 5th round sleeper pick of mine. In the 2nd round, I don't know. I shouldn't even think of these prospects. Last year, Usama Young went from a 6th round "intriguing prospect" to getting drafted in the early 3rd (where I think he was overvalued).
I guess we all have these stories...

Duane Brown, unfortunately, is at #56. He was my 3rd rd LT project pick, and it doesn't look like he'll last that long. Good news is my #2 Interior OL behind Albert, Zuttah, is all the way back at #89.

Ray Rice at #74 is a very enticing early 3rd rd pick if available. Also Avril at #79 is a steal.

Ch Jackson is alot higher than I could have wished at #76. I was hoping he'd sink to the end of rd 3 at the earliest. Of the top 100 cbs, I see

Cason
Ch Jackson
Wheatley
Porter

as the only good fits for the Pats.

Carlson recued his stock at #57.

My boy J. Hardy's now the #2 Wr and #22 overall. Someone cracked the code!

Well, if these rankings hold true, the Patriots could land a bunch of good players, especially if they pick up another second rounder, with a trade down. Some of the players seem ranked a little closer to where I've thought they should be ranked, as well.

I'm not really going to take the time out (right now) to figure out all of the players left off this list, but a quick read, and I didn't notice Erin Henderson.

Kehl really shouldn't come as a surprise. He's similar in style to Curtis Lofton as a college player.

Similarly, I'm getting a little fire in me about Reggie Smith possibly becoming a Patriot. Had he killed ANYTHING post-season, he'd be a firster. But he didn't. All three are footballers with questions. But the questions are the same questions people remark about when they look back on drafts and wonder why they weren't picked higher than they were, not why were they picked at all.

EDIT: Although, I agree. I admit that I thought Kehl would be a 5th round success story, not a possible 2nd/3rd rounder expected to come thru in some way. To make up for it, Matt Forte gets little love on this board. I'ma take a stab and equate him to a future Jerome Bettis. Maybe not 13k, but not bad.
