Default Rotoworld: Pats contemplating trade up for Dorsey

For what it's worth, looks like we may end up talking to the Rams:

How does he fit in our 3-4 scheme ? I'm not sure, but I'm sure BB has his own ideas.

Did you read the source Roto quoted?

The guy says the Pats may be interested in Dorsey enough to trade up. Nothing about sources citing they will.

I love how citing a rumor makes something seem true.

"In fact, the emphasis on speed rushers is so strong that New England, which has the No. 7 overall pick via last year’s draft trade with the San Francisco 49ers, has had Dorsey in for a personal workout and is contemplating a trade up for him, according to a source close to the team and another close to the player."

Im gonna just point out the obvious, which is that our FO guys are the best in the world at FUELING THE DRAFT MEDIA MACHINE. They'll never trade up for Dorsey. But they must want to make sure that every team ahead of them makes a play for him to let OUR guy drop. Its spin, man. Pure spin. Every last word.

I'm all for this. I think Dorsey is probably the best player in the draft. Only thing is he has a few health concerns. He's a bit injury prone. But, he is one hell of a player.

Didn't we hear the same thing about Dewayne Robertson?

He could have a place on this team, and I think he could adjust to the system a little better than some realize, but I don't think the Patriots would be interested in trading up for him. So, this seems like a team created false rumor, and I doubt anyone from Dorsey's camp would deny the rumor, as they would likely see it as a positive.

People talk about Dorsey like he's simply an upfield penetrator, which isn't entirely accurate. Go back and watch LSU, especially the National Championship game. Those without a solid understanding of the game might think Dorsey only had an average outing. The problem with that line of thinking is that Dorsey was getting double teamed, and OSU's having to double him, allowed the other D-linemen to penetrate, and even while fighting a constant double team, Dorsey was able to make some outstanding plays.

Some fans and media types might get to caught up in what a particular player was asked to do within his college system, and not what he could be able to do within other systems. Basically, just because Dorsey played at such a high level within LSU's system, doesn't mean he couldn't adjust to NE's system.

I personally think Dorsey is the best D-linemen in the draft, and could see the Patriots having legit interest in him, but I also think this rumor is BS.

I think this rumor from Yahoo, basically comes from Peter King's MMQB article. Peter King has seemed to think for the past few weeks that the Patriots are really interested in Dorsey. It makes alot of sense, especially to the Rams if Jake Long is gone. That's who they covet. But, I doubt the Patriots would want to pay the price to move up to #2. It makes sense that they would have to goto #2 cause the Falcons defintely want him at 3. I'd love to see it happen, but this is just your annual Draft rumors with 10 days to goto the draft. I think in the end they'll settle for Sedrick Ellis at #7, although there is talk that KC could take him at #5.
