They've gone to NC to work out Mapp, but I don't see how he fits in. I think maybe that was their cover to go take a look at Hilee Taylor.

Add Zach Bowman to the list of Official Pats Prospects Workouts/Visits...
According to today's Globe, the Pats put Nebraska CB Zach Bowman through a private "skull" session to see how he identified offenses and defensive alignments. This was done prior to his Pro Day.

The Patriots held a private workout with Southern Cal defensive end Lawrence Jackson on the USC campus yesterday, according to Jackson's representatives. At 6-4, 271 pounds, Jackson would project to be an outside linebacker in the Patriots' 3-4 defense. He is considered to be as high as a second-round pick among draft experts.
PATRIOTS TAKE LOOK AT MAPP: The Patriots had a private, on-campus workout with North Carolina linebacker Durell Mapp earlier this month. Mapp is considered a later-round selection, which reflects how detailed and thorough the scouting process is for NFL teams, including the Patriots. Teams work out many prospects leading up to the draft, with the sessions most accurately reflecting that more information is needed before giving the player a final grade. Mapp (6-1, 227) played outside linebacker for North Carolina and was highly productive on the stat sheet, leading all ACC players in tackles. He would most likely project to inside linebacker in the Patriots' 3-4 alignment.
According to his diary on the NFL Players Association website, Nebraska cornerback Zack Bowman had a private sit-down and film session with the Patriots March 13, prior to his Pro Day workout the next day. The 6-1, 197-pound Bowman is considered a late-round pick because of medical concerns. He was a medical redshirt in 2006 after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee. He ruptured the patella tendon in his right knee before the 2007 season but recovered in time to start the season. Despite the injuries, Bowman has been clocked under 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Reason: Changed the Lawrence Jackson source from the KFFL version, to the original offering from Gasper and Reiss
Just wanted to say I love these updates. I've seen a lot of the info surfing the web myself, but to have the info all in one place is great. It would be nice if you would bump the thread up sometime after the draft to see how many Patriots draft picks actually were guys that we knew they interviewed/worked out prior to the draft.
As for the post on Mapp, his NFL.com combine analysis (provided by NFL Draft Scout) specifically mentions that his best fit might come inside in a 3-4 defense.
When I read about Bowman going through the X's and O's with the coaches it reminded me or Rodgers-Cromartie at the Combine. The Patriots asked him to draw up a defense on the board, and he said he drew up a cover 2 "because it was easy". My guess is the Pats people weren't impressed with his choice of defenses to put up on the board.
The Patriots have arranged predraft visits with cornerbacks Brandon Flowers, Charles Godfrey, and Terrell Thomas at Gillette Stadium, according to representatives for the players.
Flowers, who played at Virginia Tech, enters the draft after his junior season. At 5-10, 189, he might be a bit shorter than scouts traditionally desire, but reports indicate he plays with a physical edge.
Godfrey (6-0, 207) played at Iowa under Bill Belichick disciple Kirk Ferentz and has the ideal measurables and style of play for teams seeking a sturdy presence at corner. He's considered strong in run support and also has experience at safety.
The 6-1, 202-pound Thomas began his college career at USC playing safety, and is touted on some reports as a top lockdown corner who is defined by a physical style.

Patriots | K. Rivers has private workout scheduled with team
Wed, 26 Mar 2008 14:42:44 -0700 Daniel Mogollon, of NFLDraftBible.com, reports University of Southern California LB Keith Rivers (ankle) has a private workout scheduled with the New England Patriots.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the record, I had already heard a rumor concerning this private workout, and almost brought it up yesterday to see if anyone had a linkable source.
Also, I think Rivers, Keglar, and possibly Avril could project to ILB in NE's system.

As part of their extensive draft preparations, the Patriots are scheduled to host Georgia Tech defensive end Darrell Robertson on a visit to Gillette Stadium early next month.
The 6-foot-4-inch, 255-pound Robertson projects to outside linebacker in the Patriots' 3-4 alignment, and he would also likely contribute in a rushing role in sub packages. Teams looking at Robertson will likely want to double-check his medical status before the draft, as he tore a pectoral muscle while training for the February NFL Combine.
Robertson started 29 games over his four-year college career, and totaled 25 tackles for loss over that time. He is projected as a mid-round draft choice.

Thompson: Who are some of the teams that took some time to talk to you during the East-West Shrine Game?
Brown: I talked Tampa Bay, the Falcons, the Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Colts, the Patriots, the Cleveland Browns, the Raiders and the Dolphins. There were a number of teams I talked to, but you never know, and you never really have a clear indication of who wants you the most until they actually draft you.
Great kid. 15 min interview went for near 40 minutes.
He was caught up with the whole Katrina thing as his family's hose was destroyed. Some of his family relocated to Atlanta and some in Texas. The main family 4 siblings and his mom and step dad moved back to New Orleans.

23? teams at his Pro Day
Had a great conversation with Jim Haslett and Ray Rhodes.
Pats connection: Dom Capers interviewed him after the Pro Day.
After going through all of the testing and drills that are required during the daytime hours of the annual event, Johnson's appointment card was jam-packed with teams that wanted to meet with him for formal interviews in the evening. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound back who rushed for 1,462 yards his senior year told Scout.com that he met with the Browns, Dolphins, Cowboys, Patriots, Bills, Giants, Bengals, Seahawks, Texans, Packers, Panthers, Cardinals, Rams, Eagles, Titans, Broncos, Redskins, Chiefs and Jaguars.
