Ironically enough, they could have at least mitigated both those gaffes: apparently, Al Davis wanted O'Connell. In retrospect, if I had known he had that high a likelihood of getting cut, I would have included him in the deal for Burgess. [The sticking point is that Al Davis, in one of his rare moments of lucidity, wanted to trade Burgess for O'Connell + Seabaß.  ]
