The NFL Scouting Combine will be held February 23 – March 1, 2011. And once again, it's important to have one convenient thread devoted to all Combine happenings. Of course, we can post weigh-in/workout results in separate threads once they take place:

Cool links; thanks. Pretty interesting reading the official Combine site, which apparently has players and teams as its intended audience. Just reading the FAQ page gives you insight into the hopes and anxieties of draft-eligible young men.
How players are selected: Explains that "ALL eligible players" are voted on (wow, long meeting!). "While it is not a perfect science, the goal of the committee is to invite every player that will be drafted in the ensuing NFL Draft."
According to my agent or coach, I am a better player or was graded higher than my roommate. Why is he invited and I am not? "Similar to the make-up of an actual team, there are often more players invited in one position as opposed to another. For instance, there are typically more linemen invited than quarterbacks. Therefore, it is possible that a lineman with a lesser grade is invited before a quarterback with a higher grade."
If I pay my own way, can I participate? Um, no. Interesting to me that they included that question; they must get that a lot.
I’m an agent and I have a player I believe may have been overlooked. How do I get him into the NFL Scouting Combine? "It is extremely unlikely that a player was “overlooked” during the selection process. " SO, they're pretty confident in the process.
If a player declines an invitation or is injured during a Bowl or All-star Game, will you add a player to replace him? "No. Rarely does a player decline the invitation to attend ..."

Da'Quan Bowers is in doubt for the combine after having surgery on a partially torn meniscus in his knee after the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Its unknown how this will affect his combine participation but it will be interesting to watch over the next week. He's still training for the combine so I think he will still be there, but he might be limited in what drills he can participate in.
I dont think it will knock him out of the top 10 but it could knock him out of the top 3. If BB thinks he's finally the answer at OLB, I'd love to trade Mankins and Meriweather to Dallas for their 1st, and trade up to 5 with Arizona to take Bowers.

Just a heads up, OL measurements take place today. Also, here's two articles from NFP's Bunting on which Combine participants have the most to gain, and which ones could slide:

talk about breaking your nose to spite your face.......quinn could well wind up being better than bowers
Tyron Smith measured up at 307 pounds with 36 3/8 inch arms. Don't know his exact height, but it's probably just under 6'5''. The value isn't there since Vollmer would likely be the left tackle of the two, but he's an interesting guy to watch.

Anyone know when DL & LB measurements are...I impatiently wait the sizes for Watt, Jordan, and the OLB prospects (Smith, Ayers, etc.)
