Default Matt Ryan<--pats 1st round pick?

He wont take over brady's job right away, very good physcal qualities for a qb combine with bb and brady mentoring he can be a very qood back and also future trade bait for other teams.

This pick will not disrupt the defense or the offense, its a good pick for a high valued player and it addresses the future for the patriots not to mention Matt Ryan can probally win games against the jests and dolphins.

And then we'll trade him to the Colts for Reggie Wayne and Bob Sanders.

And he'd be getting more money than Wes Welker to basically ride the pine full time.

OK mesoslo, now you're just funnin' us. Come on, you can cook up something juicier than that! Where are your trademark trades for established stars? Or the dreams of a top-10 WR?

I think it'd be more likely to see the Pats trade their 7th pick and Jarvis Green to the Bengals for Chad Johnson.

And that won't happen.

The pick "won't disrupt the offense or defense".

Well I guess that's right. But the standard of a #7 pick is someone that DOES make a "disruption" or at least is noticeable on offense or defense. Not someone who sits around.

Ryan isn't very good, I think you could find a half a dozen career backups (Chris Redman like) who would play for less and you wouldn't have to waste a pick on them. But that's almost beside the point.

Brady will probably play 5,6 or more years. At which time Ryan's rookie contract will have been up. So the whole point of drafting his "replacement" now is stupid anyway. Ryan wouldn't be good, IMO, as he sucks. He overthrows people all the damn time. Where's the accuracy?

The more I read about Brady, the more I think he stays in the game as long as possible. I would not be surprised to see Brady play even longer than 5-6 years and at a high level for most of it.

Totally agree. Brady has never relied on athleticism to succeed. He has won Sbs with a weaker arm than he has now, and when he was slower afoot. So even if he declines athletically he can still play and win. The only thing that can shortcircuit his career, other than the obvious, is if life outside football intervenes, and he loses a bit of his dedication and competitive fire. That usually happens with the demands of family and children, and is totally normal. His competitive fire and killer instinct are the engine of this team, and if he flags even a little the whole team will start to cycle down.

But he seems to love the game so much I could see him playing until 37, 38. And then go into coaching.
