Default 2011 - Not sure they fit thread

Players that for whatever reason don't quite work for the Patriots. (too tall, too small, too slow, bad BO, etc.)

I have to see more of this guy but first thoughts are no. He is athletic enough, can nove well, seems fluid but gave up on several backside plays. Reminds of Quentin Groves who had the right size, speed, etc. but it went with a total lack of heart. I hope I am wrong but I put this guy off my list for now.

Mine is Von Miller olb - Texas A&m. He's supposedly too small for our system 6'2" 240lb. Will probably run a 4.55 or so. He played the best defensive game I've seen all year against Oklahoma. He pressured the qb, lead 2 goal line stands, covered Demarco Murray in flats and tackled him in space inside 10 on another. With OU's hurry-up offense(I love it...they attack..attack....then attack more) they usually get about 100 plays. He was on the field for over 90. He cramped up a couple of times but kept coming back in and making plays. Was truly spectacular. I know damn well he can you can put 10lbs of muscle on. The only thing missing is his height. Which is probably why we won't even consider him. I think he'd make a great fit as ROLB(Usually weakside) in our system with Cunningham at LOLB(Usually strongside).

Adrian Clayborn - Neither fish nor fowl.
Cam Jordan - Unimpressive against sub-par competition.
Cam Heyward - Where's Waldo?
Allen Baily - Neither fish nor fowl.
Christian Ballard - Ball? What ball?
Drake Nevis - Love his game, for a one-gap defense.
Mark Herzlich - Health, seems like a better Tampa-2 LB fit.
John Moffit - Not superman when he comes out of the phone booth.
Mike Pouncey - Too limited.
Ben Ijalana - His agility/mobility seem a little poorer than Dante's standard.
Stefan Wisniewski - Reportedly struggled in shotgun.

DE Da'Quan Bowers (sorry guys) - too big for OLB, not big enough for a 3-4 DE. Disappears for long stretches.

RB Mikel Leshoure - Needs lots of carries and a commitment to the run before he becomes effective. If P-burgh drafts him that is my nightmare.

RB Daniel Thomas - doesn't run with the power you expect a big back to have.

Michael Floyd- suspect route/good hands, speed, size/height.

Marcell Dareus (Height/Length)
Cam Jordan (Height/Length/Weight/Quality of Competition)
Adrian Clayborn (Height/Length/Weight)
Allen Bailey (Weight/Production)
Cameron Heyward (Consistency)
Christan Ballard (Too soft)
Drake Nevis (Lacks DE Height, NT Bulk)
Jared Crick (Weight/Production)
Von Miller (Height/Length/Weight)
Justin Houston (Height/Length)
Akeem Ayers (Too soft/lacks pass-rushing skills)
Dontay Moch (Height/Length/Weight)

And I'll throw in basically every 4-3 LB, since the Pats are loaded at ILB and there's not really anywhere for one of them to "fit" onto the team

Akeem Ayers - he doesnt have the size to be a 3-4 OLB, plus he doesn't impress me at all.

JJ Watt He'd be a great pass rushing specialist, but not a 2 gap 3-4 DE.

I think Pouncey would be fine as an OG in a Patriots uniform.

For OLB its anyone over 270lbs. Some people mention the idea that a bigger DE can lose weight and convert to OLB. That's a reasonable idea but teams don't seem to do it. Or at least it didn't happen last draft. The biggest prospect for a DE/OLB conversion was our own Jermaine Cunningham 266lbs. All the bigger guys got drafted at DE for 43 and 34. I look at actual tweeners at DE that also have the desired athleticism of a LB.

Klug and Romeus unless they show a lot more athleticism than expected.
