they're moving him to cb because san diego screwed tenn over by not pulling the trigger on the turner trade (they drafted griffin for us)
when the traded didn't happen, instead of drafting jarrett for them, we scrambled to pick the 3rd guy on our 1st round cluster (c. davis) our first 2 were griffin and meachem.
so the trade doesn't happen, they're stuck with griffin (which isn't really a bad thing because he's very good) and we have to trade up with the bears to get our top safety choice in round 2 , weddle. The titans are then left with having to fill their RB spot (because of the overweight potentially dissapointing lendale white) and their wr spot, because they didn't get jarrett.
so they choose to pick chris henry instead of a wr, which was quite a reach.
If they really did pick a player in the first round based on a trade that hadn't happened yet then they deserve to be screwed over. That is an incredibly dumb move on their part.

Also, I will again point out Griffin wasn't that great (in coverage) his senior year, and UT's defense had some problems in '06.
I'm not a big college football person, and only watched Griffin a few times, it just doesn't look like he has the proper make-up to play CB. He has good speed but even from his highlights you can tell that he is often a little late getting to plays which is not what you want from a cornerback. I think his best shot to turn into a good player is at safety, and it seems like they are kind of wasting him by moving him to cornerback.

Bingo! You've got Bingo! Michael Griffin can be a little late at times. This wasn't any more evident than at the Senior Bowl. Meriweather and Griffin were playing right next to eachother, but Meriweather was constantly beating Griffin to the ball. Meriweather was quicker in run support, and seemed to have better range in pass coverage. Really, it's about recognition & instincts, and I'm sorry but Meriweather has it all over Michael Griffin in that department.

Actually the only fanfare Griffin got from most that he was a terrific special teams player too. As far as coverage and tackling Nelson and Merriweather got the nods from most. Not saying that these two will be better than Griffin because we don't know squat yet. It just appears to be the general agreement from most of the draft yahoo's.

I would think he's a better tackler than either of them, if not meriweather than nelson definatly, just look at the stats

This reminds me of when Pete "the rete" Carroll forced the Pats to draft Tebucky Jones and Pete "the rete" Carroll tried to move Jones to CB.
What it all boils down to is can Griffin play with his back to the LOS? If he can, then he'll be a good solid CB. If he can't then he'll be exposed badly if he steps onto the field. (just like Tebucky)
It is very hard to change from having every thing in front of you and moving forward at the snap to backpedaling, turning and running at the snap. Mentally it's tough.
