Default ADOPT a player/MERIWEATHER

Brandon would like to clear something up once and for all. Lets start with the lighter problem. Gun possesion. Brandon's real father is a police officer..a well known one in Florida i believe. Guns are ALLOWED to be carried in Florida legally.Brandon had it and tried to use it as self defense. Nothing was ever brought up regarding the gun. ENOUGH SAID ON THAT. No problem here, plenty players carry guns. Second, the stomping incident was a once in a lifetime incident and it was a huge mistake. He said himself he went to pull FIU players off but made the wrong decision by joining in a STOMPING, not the helmet swinging. He's learned his mistake, hes never had other troubles where you might think "oh man this kids asking for trouble". Pacman, Chris Henry, Marcus Vick all had continous problems and still continued in NFL

TALENT
-Brandon is 5 feet 10 and 5/8ths inches (Rounds to 5"11)
-He weighs in at 195-197
-Meriweather IS the BEST COVER SAFETY in the draft. Not only have I witnessed it but experts like Mayock said themselves.
-Meriweather is a leader in locker room and on the field.
-Brandon is a smart player who can and likely make calls in secondary(alligning the DBs, calling out what offense is running and such_
-Hes a hard worker..hes worked for playing time at Miami behind a lot of talent over the years and hes risen to be 1 of the best players at Miami previous few years
-Meriweather is a HARD HITTER. If you missed Miami games, he hits anyone regardless the size. Hes not afraid, never backs down because size / strength and delivers the big shots. Some witnessed in Senior bowl him having some big hits around middle on the TEs and WRs.
-Meriweather is versatile. Hes played Strong, Free and CB in college. He started at all and never complained when he got moved to CB end of year beacuse he was the best option since safety depth was better than CB.

Take Meriweather in round 1. He would be a top 15 pick had no issues arose but they seem to be behind him. He'll be the 2nd best safety in draft behind Landry and hes proven his skills for more than 1 year(unlike Nelson) and hes been more consistent in all around skill(unlike Griffin)

Meriweather is going to be the next great Miami safety in NFL. The torch will be passed down. Reed --> Taylor --> Meriweather -->Phillips(the best of all next year)

I agree, Meriweather looks like a star. I've mentioned before that I heard a radio interview with him and he sounded like a guy truly sorry for the FIU fracas and who understood what it meant to keep his name and his team's name untarnished. He's a dynamic player that other guys follow naturally - he'd change our D instantly.

If given a choice between he or Griffin I take Brandon without hesitation.

I couldn't help but grin at this:

You know, his weight rounds up to 200, too!

Seriously, I appreciate your enthusiasm -- and I actually agree that too much of the discussion of Meriweather is about "character." But I am a little skittish about his measurables. Meriweather is a smallish guy to start with, and his poor strength and mediocre quickness and leaping numbers make me wonder whether he can be as effective in a very physical NFL defense as he was in college.

hows he have mediocre quickness and leaping? Because he didnt "time well/test well"?

Hes plenty quick o nthe field and thats why hes been effective at CB and Safety. Hes the best safety you'll find. Hes not the most athletic guy you'll find but hes athletic and his game speaks for itself on film and gameday

Hes not necessarily "weak" but hes not a very strong guy. He still hits..same like Nelson but they both need to bulk up and both will once they are in NFL. NFL Strength and Conditioning Program and Diet help these college athletes become bigger, stronger, faster, more durable same as they do with veterans.

If u insist but really hes a great all around player:

Weaknesses:
*Bulk .. he needs to get bigger, add size
* Strength .. goes with above..he needs to get a little stronger to take down NFL players who are faster and stronger than college players but just about every rookie could use some more strength

*Hes a very good tackler but sometimes hes a little reckless/goes for big shots when he should wrap up..he wraps up but needs to go for less big shots on bigger guys because in NFL it wont be as easy as he did it in college

i think all can be fixed easily. Bulk/Strength..he has room to add 10-15 pounds imo. Wrapping up more often is something a lot of college players have to do because they come from college where they are the big/strong guys but then they try to destroy a big guy like lets say Boldin, TO or a RB and it wont be succesful. On a college level he was fine with that but from personal stand point, he might need to

^also check that out.

they say he compares to Reed and i tend to agree. Not as athletic or big of a ballhawk as Reed(Reed is 1 of a kind) but he hits hard, comes up in run..makes plays..reads offenses well and is PREPARED
