Even if the team sticks with a 3-4 the 3rd down pass rush would be amazing with Green and Carriker on the outside. Warren only has 2 years left so drafting Carriker could give the Pats some leverage when resigning Warren or grooming a replacement (if needed).

Even better still:

Seymour - Warren - Wilfork - Wright - Carriker

with Thomas as LB and a dime package. . . . This would be the "Just Try and Run" package.

Well, first we've already upgraded our LB going from TBC to Thomas. Second, I know Belichick has had some notable misses on veteran LB but with Seau, Hartwell, and the like sitting out there as UFA I think Belichick would much prefer to upgrade the DL yet another level and bring in some cheap depth at LB.

The choice at 28 would likely come down to Meriweather, Griffin & Rouse at S or Ross, Hughes & McCauley at CB.

What I like about Meriweather is his versatility to play CB as well as S.

NE plays both fronts, and having Carriker on the team would give them a 4-3 front of:
Seymour Wilfork Warren Carriker
Thomas Bruschi Colvin
or

Seymour Wilfork Warren Carriker
Thomas Bruschi Vrabel

or

Seymour Wilfork Warren Carriker
Colvin Bruschi Thomas

or

Seymour Wilfork Warren Carriker
Colvin Thomas Vrabel
Nuff said. If Carriker is there at 24 I don't see any hesitation in BB putting his name in the envelope. Adding Carriker to this defense would make it even more brutal up front and allow BB to scheme even more dastardly "looks" up front as well as keeping our DLine fresh with quality rotation.

You aren't by any chance assuming Willis as a 3-4 ILB is that much better than Posluszny or Harris or Bradley, as opposed to the difference between Carriker and the next 3-4 DE candidate on people's list?

Nope, I'm not --- as you can tell by the fact that I said I'd take Carriker.

I was just picking at BelichickFan's argument because...umm...because it was there. (My father is legendary for making a provocative claim and, if he discovers that everyone agrees with him, seamlessly switching sides to argue against himself.)

May your daughter find many cartoon Carrikers in her dreams, and (maybe, pending your good behavior) not pick up any of grandpa's habits to annoy mom!

Call me crazy but Adam Carriker looks and plays like a young Jack Ham - I Like the kid.
