Default Lastest Patriots.com Mock

Pretty interesting.

Daymeion Hughes actually reminds me of Asante Samuel. Not very big, doesn't have the greatest speed, but is a true ballhawk.

Not a bad mock. I'm still not high on Beason but I can live with it if the Patroits take him.

But, I have no problem with the others as far as players. I think both Bishop and Hughes are too low. Maybe DeOssie too.

It seems like Beason kind of came out of nowhere. Granted, I don't follow college football very closely but a little while ago he wasn't even in the first round discussion and now some have him rated as the number 2 LB in the draft.

Sign me up for that thing. I'm not a huge fan of Hughes but at the end of the 3rd round, I'd be very happy with him.

NUT - I'm not sure why you want to trade up for Willis but not sit tight for Beason, there's not that much of a size different and Beason is an explosive hitter.

He is also played in the Miami two-gap D. Even though they run a 4-3, the front 7 have had a relatively easy time transitioning to a 3-4 in the past 5-10 years.

My favorite part is the throwaway at the bottom:

Note: PFW will be doing a draft blog, starting a few days before the draft kicks off. We’ll be posting our thoughts on everything draft related, including all the bad picks made by the Detroit Lions. Fans are welcome to participate by posting their opinions as well. The blog will be updated non-stop during the draft, so be sure to check it out. A link to the blog will be on Patriots.com, so everyone will be able to access it easily.

It is this simple. ILB has been a position that the Patriots has not been able to solidify since TJ's retirement. Willis is the most complete ILB out there. He has all the qualities that the Patriots look for in a player and has a big upside.

It's one of the most important positons on the defense. This team does not have many critical needs but this is one. Why not fill it with the best?

Having said that, I would not go up any further to get him than #11 to get him plus a third rounder. I think Beason could be good as well as Harris or Bradley. But, Willis is a close to a sure thing that you can get and we will have him for 6 years.
