Would you make this trade? #2

Washington Trades #34 Overall, and TE Chris Cooley to New England for #22 Overall Pick

Although it feels almost like "How can I avoid having to pick for the Pats," I'm not sure I'd say no if I were BB and Dan Snyder came calling with this.

I'd do it. We drop 12 spots in an extremely deep draft and upgrade our TE position with a 27-year old Pro-Bowler.
My only hesitation would be looking at Cooley's ankle.

That's a really bad trade for the Skins. It values him at about the 10th pick in the 3rd round. I'd assume they'd want at least a mid 2nd for him.

i said no cause the pats need a 3-4 DE and most if not all of the good ones will be gone by the 2th round. and tradeing for a TE that makes 4 million a year. and will pretty much be a blocker in the pats system. is not a good move.

I wouldn't do it. Cooley is a good receiver, but he can't block at all. Tight end is not an important receiving position in the Patriots offense, so if he can't block, he's basically useless. Unless the Patriots change their scheme, which I think they should, it's not that great a trade.
Keep the pick and draft an impact player. We can get a TE who can fill the job adequately later on in the draft or in free agency. As long as we add a wide receiver or two, we shouldn't need a big time receiving tight end.

I think we might be able to get Olson from the Bears for a lot less.

It's not 22 for Cooley. It's 22 for Cooley + 34.

Why not but I don't think a receiving TE is a priority, the Skins were supposed to get smarter with the hire of Shanahan. I think Cooley is too good of a fit in Kyle's offense especially if they get a young QB.

Eh, still not interested, I don't like Cooley, I might be tempted if a similar deal came along for Olsen.

THIS IS A SPECTACULAR TRADE FOR THE SKINS. Shanny wants a QB. At a top five pick there isn't really any worth while.
He gets his second first rounder at #22 and can pick Bradford or McCoy. It absolutely makes sense. I mentioned this a few days ago with the thought of adding Santana Moss as well. Perfect number three guy. 70 receptions in 2009 with a lousy passing game. He is 30 and his contract goes to 2011. They lose him next year anyway. Then if he does not work out we are not locked too. Cooley is good contract wise until 2013. Plus we get a top second rounder. Less money to pay out. We can still get a top rusher like Hughes or Wooten at #36.
The Skins need a RB, OT, DT KR , and LB.
The Skins used their third choice in the supplemental Draft. Snyder has the money and he could take a flyer on AD. Slater could fill a need as well. They need bodies and their draft choices are few. They could pick up a desperate need in Okung. Then they could still go back for McCoy or Bradford at #22. They also pick up a starter at OLB and a KR needed. I'd even throw in our 6th if it made the deal.
They might dump Portis. I might suggest S. Moss and Cooley and their second rounder #36 for our #22 and Maroney. Excellent trade for both teams.
Shanny liked Maroney.
Cooley would become TBs' Dallas Clark. He goes 250lbs. How much worse of a blocker can he bee than Watson. Cooley is a definite upgrade. Watson went out and after 7 games still had 29 receptions. Watson had 29 receptions for the year and will not win a blocking award.
Major upgrade!
