After what we paid Adailus and the latest issues in this BB may be a bit shy with the Big bucks but you have to move on.
Any players you think would fit in for us next year?
I don't know the situation with the Rams but they won't be going anywhere for 3/4 years. I don't know what it would take but wouldn't mind seeing
Steven Jackson running the ball for us.

In no order:
Kevin Walter (UFA)
Malcolm Floyd (RFA, but Chargers have other guys to resign)
Shawne Merriman (same as above)
Jason Babin (UFA, DE/OLB from Eagles)
Aaron Kampman (UFA)
Chester Taylor (UFA)
Karlos Dansby (UFA, may be tagged)
Basically, pass-rushers are the first need this offseason and then receiver, but I wouldn't mind Dansby or Taylor either.
Also, any defensive veteran that gets cut would be worth a look, even if it is just to add some leadership to the team.
Steven Jackson is under contract, unless the Rams cut him. He signed a 6 year deal in 2008.
If 2010 is an uncapped year, then 6 years will be required to reach UFA status, and the pool of available UFAs will be drastically reduced. The only players who I can see being of potential interest are:
- DE/OLB Julius Peppers, Carolina - I can't see it, myself, but FAs not FA unless Peppers is mentioned for the Pats
- DE/OLB Aaron Kampman, Green Bay
- LB Karlos Dansby, Arizona - has been franchised twice, may get franchised again or sign a long term deal
- CB Dunta Robinson, Houston - a possibility if we can't re-sign Leigh Bodden
There are a bunch of guys who will be RFAs if it is an uncapped year and possibly UFAs if there is a new CBA, who could be of interest depending on their status and the price:
- WR Mark Clayton, Baltimore - Pats wanted him in 2005
- TE Owen Daniels, Houston
- OT Willie Colon, Pittsburgh - great RT, could be very expensive
- OLB Shawne Merriman, San Diego
- DE/OLB Chris Gocong, Philadelphia
- DE/OLB Ray Edwards, Minnesota
- CB Carlos Rodgers, Washington
- CB Richard Marshall, Carolina
If 2010 is an uncapped year, then the vast majority of UFAs will be players who are cut by their teams because they are underperforming their contracts. These could include guys like New Orleans RB Reggie Bush, Jets DE/OLB Vernon Gholston, and a bunch of others.

I have no interest in anyone until Day One of free agency when we see who is actually available. Many players will be re-signed or extended by that date. Others will be waived. Also we will know whether there is a cap and the rules for the season.
For me, I would love having a guy like Merriamn, but have no idea whether he will be avialable.

Hopefully the Iggles will hang a second round tender on Gocong.

Peppers mention =
As far as Dansby goes, if the Cardinals franchise him again, they have to give him QB money. I don't think he's worth that much to them.

My first choice would be to sign a pass rusher like Shawne Merriman and trade up for ILB Rolando McClain.
My second choice would be to sign Karlos Dansby and get 2 pass rushers in the draft. If Dansby can be signed for AD-type money I'd do it. NEPatriots had the Pats taking Jeremy Beal and Brandon Graham in his latest mock, and they would do wonders. Greg Romeus and Austen Lane are other possibilities.
Either way would be very nice.

I like the mention of Babin. If healthy, he's the sneaky low-cost signing that Belichick could find a spot for.
I think Walter would be beyond redundant with guys like Welker, Edelman, and Aiken on the team. If we sign a FA WR, it had better be someone who can threaten the secondary deep -- a Devery Henderson type.
