23 - Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB
34 - James Laurinaitis, ILB
47 - Alphonso Smith, CB
58 - Rashad Johnson, S
89 - Shonn Greene, RB
97 - Andy Levitre, OG
None of them are horrible picks and it's not a bad draft. In fact, it's refreshing to see something a little different. But there seem to be better values:
23 - Connor Barwin (going 33 to Detroit)
33 - Alex Mack (going 36 to Cleveland) or William Beatty (going 4 to Green Bay). Some will love the Laurinaitis pick, but I just don't see him fitting our need for an SILB next to Mayo
47 - Alphonso Smith is solid value here, but with S being a bigger need I wouldn't pass on Louis Delmas (55 to Atlanta) or Patrick Chung (56 to Baltimore); Jarron Gilbert goes 52 to the Jets, d*mn them.
58 - Eric Wood (63 to Arizona), William Moore (69 to Dallas) and James Casey (73 to Green Bay) seem like better options to me
I partly posted this because it's yet another "professional" mock with Barwin going earlier than 34. Maybin vs. Barwin isn't close for me. Matthews goes 37 to Seattle, English 46 to Houston, and Sintim 56 to Miami.
Thanks to BOR for setting me straight on the hyperlinks.

I don't see the Pats going RB, but at 89 I couldn't argue with it, as he would be an absurd value.

If we get all these picks, I'll ***** my pants. THose are some quality players at 34(Lauriniatas), 47 (Alphonso Smith at 47? F#ck yeah!), 89 (Greene).
EDIT: I just glossed over his draft and he's got Heyward-Bey going 8th to the Jaguars (absurd). And his opinion on us picking Rashad at 58 is: "Tedy Bruschi won't be around forever and the Pats are thin inside." LOL. Nice copy and paste.
I would be very Happy with this draft, but Im not a fan of Laurinaitis at #34 or for us in general for that matter but overall I like it. Hey Mayo why do you like Barwin over Maybin?

Maybin's had to put on 20 lbs. just to get his weight up to 250. It's not clear that he can maintain that weight, or that he won't lose some speed because of it. He may always be a 'tweener. He's not physically mature, and probably is 2-3 years from being ready. He's pretty much a pure rusher. No experience playing in space, covering. Not strong against the run, and unclear he has the strength to hold the edge.
Obviously not all of those are things that Barwin excels at yet either, and some of those comments apply to him as well. But I think his frame is bigger to handle the weight, his TE background gives him an edge playing in space, he has already excelled at deflecting passes and blocking kicks, and he seems to have excellent awareness. He has more raw athleticism and has proven he can switch positions and learn quickly, while still being productive.
Maybin's a talented kid and a better pure rusher than Barwin right now. I'm not demeaning him as a prospect. He showed better than expected hands and movement at the combine. But given the versatility that the Pats demand, I would take Barwin.
