Moore is the third RB the Pats will have worked out so far, Rashad Jennings and Bernard Scott are the others.

As a Faulk fan, I'm in no hurry to see him pack it in just yet. But if the Pats feel now is a good time to find his future replacement -- than so be it.

Moore is certainly one of the draft's speediest backs -- and arguably the fastest. Straight line speed is his game, as he's a slasher not a juker. Decent enough hands as a 3rd down/change-of-pace back. Blitz p/u is an issue for all of the RB candidates.

Listed as 5095 187, with a Pro Day 4.34 40. Strong for his size with an impressive 28 bench reps. Projected as a late day two prospect, although he could move into the round four range.

Thoughts on the player? Other preferred RBs?

Moore is one of my favorite 2nd day players in the draft, a "poor man's Percy Harvin"/Darren Sproles type of all-purpose player. As a long-term replacement for Kevin Faulk he would be ideal. The question is where we can fit him on the roster. Certainly worth a look.

I love Faulk - we could save $3M by moving him, though, which could be a possibility if we draft a replacement.

I'm a big Faulk fan too, but he is aging, with a fairly big contract for a role player, and his contract is up after 2009. I could see using that money elsewhere. Also, with Maroney/Taylor/Morris it's hard to see him getting a huge amount of carries, though he will doubtless earn his keep as a clutch third down guy.

As I said, Moore is certainly worth a look.

Moore was unimpressive in Texas vs The Nation. San Jose State's Yonus Davis 5'6" 189, was a stronger, more effective runner, showing Faulk-like quickness and fearlessness running between the tackles. He also appeared to be a better receiver.

Ringer or Moreno might be the best overall options, but I'm not really interested in Day One RBs.

Ian Johnson is the best Faulk analogue on Day Two. Johnson looked solid on blitz pick-up in the Poinsettia Bowl against TCU's #2 defense. He's good on STs and as a receiver, and he's found the end zone once or twice in his career.

It's too bad Navy's Shun White won't be available, he was an impressive scat back.

I liked what little I saw of Tyrell Sutton (Northwestern), he's Faulk-sized, quick and fast.

TCU's Aaron Brown was very impressive in the Pointsettia Bowl and not too bad in the Shrine game.

Although Faulk does have 10 years of tread on the tires, its some lightly used tread. As long as it's cap friendly, i could see Faulk being effective for another 3 years. Cap friendly being the key thing here.

La'rod Stephens-Howling out of LaPitt was the other half of the LeBackfield with LeSean McCoy. He's short, but has that Maurice Jones-Drew freaky strength in his lower body. I'd take him in the 7th or target him in free agency.

My Curtis Brinkley thoughts should be well known by now.
