Thumbs up Pats work out Connor Barwin

Quote:
Patriots tight ends coach Shane Waldron was in Cincinnati earlier this week (Tuesday) to work out tight end/defensive end Connor Barwin, who many feel is a Mike Vrabel clone.

Barwin was a tight end, and converted to a defensive end this past season.

During the NFL’s scouting combine, he talked about being like Vrabel, given he can be a defensive starter, and also have some cameo appearances as a tight end in short-yardage or goal line situations.

”The question you get asked a lot is, ‘Who do you emulate your game after?” said Barwin. ”I don’t emulate my game after anybody; I think you pick up things here and there, but the one player that you guys (media) have heard that I get compared to a lot is Mike Vrabel, just because of the size and playing defense then being able to catch touchdowns in the red zone as a tight end. That’s the one obvious comparison that I hear about so far.”

Trying to figure out why they had the Tight Ends coach work him out.

And its very odd that they would allow that to the press.

Hope this isn't a smokescreen, I'm really hoping they take him at #34

I'll be honest, this seems like a sure sign we won't take him.

Or maybe that's what they want us to think.

Or.....

Didn't I read somewhere where we Drafted some players we never worked out? You wonder if BB has his list all ready made up of who to take at what position depending on who's available.
Maybe its a smoke screen by him.

I don't think it was the team that revealed that information. A lot of the time, it's the players themselves or their agents that give out that info because it might mean that someone will draft him higher and the player will get more money.

I hope he's available at #34, and i hope Pats to get itchy trigger finger and get him at #23. I hope Barwin is another player to contribute right off the bat like Mr. Mayo !! Great news of the day!
