SMITHFIELD, RI -- The Patriots have reportedly sent offensive lineman Grant Williams off to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.
Williams, who saw action against the Rams in Superbowl XXXVI is a seven-year veteran and has experience playing both left and right tackle. He also started four games last season for New England.
St. Louis has been on the lookout for a veteran right tackle, and apparently seem to feel that Williams is their guy. The fans appear to be behind them since in a recent poll on the official site that asked if the Rams should sign a veteran right tackle, 81% of the 2214 fans that voted felt the club should go out and get someone to anchor their offensive line.
Williams originally signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 1996 as a rookie free agent out of Louisiana Tech. He signed with the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent from Seattle on March 17, 2000.
