Default SC WR Alshon Jeffery rumor

If this has been posted somewhere else, please disregard. I am actually surprised that I haven't seen anything on here about this.

It has been reported by Scott Wright of draftcountdown that Alshon Jeffries showed up for combine training weighing in at 249 lbs. and ran a 4.88 40 yard dash.
Scott is still trying to get confirmation on this but it has been out there for about a week and no one from Jeffries camp has come out to deny it.

If that is the case, Jeffries could slide a long ways down draft boards.

Yes they have. Michael Schottey has spoken to someone from Jeffrey's camp, and they confirmed Jeffrey had been in Florida for over 5 weeks training. If it happened, it was before the New Year.

Creator of the Pats must draft Jason Verrett in 2014 no matter the cost fanclub.

Greetings,
I have said it before and I will say it again, I have a feeling he will either be in debate as one of the greatest receivers of all time or the biggest receiving bust of all time. From what I have heard he has really regressed from where he was last year. I did not watch him play this year, but I heard his weight went up a lot and his play went down. Which is why I also suggested a few months back that it is not a guarantee he will go early in the draft, even the first round. I watched him in 2010, especially that Bama game and instantly wanted him to be a Patriot. But time will tell with him

I'd take him with a 3rd or 4th rounder. He honestly seems like the quintessential diva WR. The only games he looked like he was even trying in were the big spot light games. He did great in those games but this kid has diva stamped all over him.

Why even say that when hes not going to get beyond the first 2 rounds?

I've got to ask, where does this view of Jeffery as a diva come from? Is it something that you have seen from him or heard him say, or is it just a perception from what others say about him? Could it be that he played last season at South Carolina with completely inept QB play and a lack of targets, all the while not saying a single negative word or complaining once. Could it be because he is seen as a hard worker and loved by his teammates. Could it be because he is a highly competetive player who strives to be the best.

"I want to be like (NFL receivers) Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson and Andre Johnson," Jeffery told ESPN.com
That to me sounds like a guy I wan't on my team. He's not arrogant, he's not saying he is better than those guys. But he has goals and he want's to be the best. I'm sick of all of all of this negative talk and rumors about a guy, where there hasn't been a single credible source come out and question his character or work ethic. His trainers have praised him and think he is going to shock people.

People claim he is fat and out of shape. He did put on some weight last off-season but was still in great shape when the season started. His trainers have praised the way his body has taken to his off-season workouts and adapting to professional life.

People say he is a lazy route runner
Quote:
“What the average person doesn’t realize is the caliber of athlete (Alshon) is. If some people call it running lazy routes, it isn’t that. What is so special about Alshon is that he makes everything LOOK effortless at the college level. When we evaluate these guys, you have to take what you kow about them, what you know about body mechanics and decide for yourself: Is this guy not trying or is he so good that he makes it all look easy. Alshon is so good, so fluid and instinctual that sometimes it looks like he may not be trying. When you know the person, know the kid- you know that is not the case."
NFL Draft: Alshon Jeffery is About to Prove a lot of People Wrong

I keep asking, but nobody has shown me a single piece of credible evidence that he has any of the issues people claim. But i guess, if enough people keep talking about it, it must be true. If you don't like Jeffery, that's fine, but I hate how people can continually bring up things against him that have absolutely no basis. He's lazy, he's fat, he's a diva. No, he is a very good football player and I think the Pats would be lucky to get him

Very difficult to seperate from DB's at 250 pounds and with 4.9 speed. Ouch!

Didn't Mayo run a 4.53 at his pro day? If linebackers are faster than you, then you better be quick otherwise, you see many balls thrown your way.

Wilfork#75 if there is one thing in life you should learn its that anyone who has to tell what they are, isn't. I don't read player pre-draft interviews.

Time for him to be a TE.

Alshon Jeffery is this year's Ryan Mallett.

Both of them have skills that can't be taught with physically dominating characteristics-- ability to take over a game from their respective positions.

Both victims of perception, rumor, and innuendo.

Hopefully Jeffery runs in the 4.6's and we can get him in the third.

I bet he runs under a 4.6 though...Jeffrey's problem isn't his release or glide, it's in his break at the top of the route to seperate in tight coverage.

One issue with that was the SC QB's didn't have the arm strength to put the football in front of AJ consistently, he was always gearing down to come back for the ball instead of maintaining his glide upfield.

I'd love to see Ryan Mallett throwing 55 yard strikes to Alshon Jeffery down the road.
