A HIGH second rounder? -

You mean you think the Chargers are going to suck this year? - Wishful thinking

Considering they have 2 more picks this round, it wasn't a bad idea at all.

There's several tempting players on the board right now: Connor, Avril specifically. I'm hoping one is still on the board when they pick again at R3P15

Considering this is the 6th pick in the 3rd round how many picks forward will this 2nd round be in next years draft considering it's the Chargers? 10? 12? I'd like this better if it was a team like the 49ers.

So many good players still on the board.

There's only two conclusions for Patriots fans on rookies. They are either a bust or being fitted for their bust in Canton.

I really like this deal. Anyone drafted by this team will have an uphill battle to make the team. I dont think we need 3 3rd rounders this year. Hopefully, The chargers sputter a little bit next year. Could be a nice asset to have. Especially if we want to try and move up in next years first or hell maybe we could roll it over again into a future first.

That deal makes no sense.

The Chargers project to be one of the better teams in the NFL next year. Say they have the 29th pick in the 2nd round next year for example. How did the Patriots really help themselves when there are still quality players on the board this year?

To me they are being too cute with this trade.

That may be, but, FWIW, the Pats like if not love all the RBs they currently have.

This is exactly my thinking.

This translates to: the Draft SUCKS this year.

Just like it SUCKED last year.

Of course, the Patriots said that this year's draft would be deep.

If you're 70 players in and you're not enamored with a player at this pick, then that doesn't speak well for what's left. I've seen this movie before with the Patriots. The Chargers will be picking 28-30 next year. That means this 3rd comes 10 picks later than next year's 2nd. That's not enough for me not to take a player NOW in a supposedly deep draft.

Can't understand it unless Belichick is down on the available talent.

If that pick ends up where we all expect it to, if the Pats can turn it into a first in 2010, I'd probably do backflips all the way up to Foxboro.

Sweet.

My take: They got their guy in Wheatley, they still have a high 3rd and a low third.

Also, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Diego fall apart. People underestimate the awful chemistry of whiners and finger pointers on that team and in their front office.

Obviously not a guarantee, but I'll throw it out there.

Couple of thoughts,

- perhaps they are targeting someone, and he will be available when we pick next.
- The SD fans think we got the best of them....

Good move IMO
