There's a rumor that New Orleans and St. Louis are in heated trade negotiations for the #2 pick, and Lito Sheppard is still being shopped, so I'm going to hold off on posting the entire thing for a few hours. However, those scenarios probably won't change the Patriots picks (although possibly where they are picked):

7. PROJECTED TRADE -- The Patriots trade the #7 pick to Cincinnati for #9 & #77. The Bengals select Sedric Ellis DT USC. You can argue that Cincinnati, New Orleans, and Charlotte all have DT as their top need. You really can't argue that after Sedric Ellis, there's a bit of a drop-off in quality of interior linemen. The Bengals have a comp pick in the third round, which could free up their other third-round pick to be traded, as it is here.

9. PROJECTED TRADE -- The Patriots trade the #9 pick to Philadelphia for the #19 and #49 picks. The Eagles select Brandon Albert OL Virginia. It seems the race is on to trade up for an offensive guard. I never claimed I understood the draft process, but it seems several teams are drooling over the big fella, including Philly, who may be eyeing a replacement for the rapidly aging Jon Runyan. The Eagles would likely be dangling CB Lito Sheppard as bait to move up, but unless they can quickly agree to a new contract, the Patriots wouldn't be interested. Expect Sheppard to be dealt later in order to recoup that second round pick.

19. New England - Quentin Groves LB Auburn -- Truth be told, I'm torn here between Groves and Cason, but we know that the Patriots need a premier pass rusher, and Groves, at a minimum, will be him. He's been falling down draft boards a bit, but we know that Belichick doesn't have much use for the consensus. This is a good spot for him.

27. PROJECTED TRADE - San Diego trades the #27 pick to New England for the #49 and #62 picks. The Patriots select Antoine Cason CB Arizona. With only one pick in the first 4 rounds, expect AJ Smith to deal this pick. New England, using some ammo acquired from previous trades, snags the CB they covet. And both AFC rivals feels he got one over on the other.

69. Jon Goff LB Vanderbilt
77. Eric Young OL Tennessee
94. Dexter Jackson WR Appalachian St

I love the Dexter Jackson pick. I know Goff is from the area, but I'm just not a fan of him, and I doubt the Patriots would take an ILB in Round 2. I'm warming up to Groves, but I think because of his recent heart surgery, he is going to fall into the mid tolate 2nd round. Cason, is my #1 CB. I also think the Patriots love him, but it's going to be very difficult for them to acquire him, although through your scenario it would happen.

For the 3rd Round pick I'd like to see in your scenario maybe a Chris Johnson fall to them or I'd go Dajuan Morgan, Charles Godfrey, Patrick Lee, or Shawn Crable.

I agree that if you want Groves you'd have to take him @ 19. Despite rankings that have him in the second round rumors abound that Jax & SF (I know they're at 28, but they could easily move up a spot or two) are on him.
Cason- I'm a fan.
Eric Young would be a tremendous pick if he is available @ 77.
Dexter Jackson @ 94 would be OK. I know he has a lot of fans on this board. As a late 3rd I could see it.
Adams- solid.
5,6 & 7 are OK. Might go CB/ developmental OL myself, but I know you're a big supporter of Parmele & Bishop.

I think anything close to that would be a GREAT DRAFT!! Just do not think that will happen...I LOVE teh scenario of trading down for picks..having Cason/Groves a OLB and CB is what is needed...adding Goff an ILB and Jackson WR as well...I really do not think he will be around that late...I might take Jackson first and an ILB later...but anything close to this would be a GREAT draft...Young might be gone..but an OL there would be a solid pick...5 picks in the first 100 would make it solid right there...

It's a pretty good draft haul for the Pats. I don't see them taking 3 linebackers though. The 1st day is solid. For the second day, a guy I like is Kevin Smith. Underrated guy who rushed for over 2,500 yards and could really add stability/depth to the Pats RB rotation.

69th overall is actually the third round. I could see his value at that pick for a team like the Patriots, and I think he's going to develop into a good LB. It does seem like a number of draft sites are ranking him a little lower than that though, so maybe they would draft him at 94th overall? I would obviously be very happy with the pick though. What is it that you don't like about Goff for NE's 34 in particular?

I'm not expecting to see Chris Johnson around for their third round picks, but he would likely be a good selecting for them, even in the second round, if he makes it to 62nd overall (I think he goes earlier).

Groves didn't really have a "heart surgery". It's a simple procedure to correct what is basically a short circuit that can cause your heart rate to increase. They simply insert a catheter, and use radio waves to burn the effected area. After the procedure, the issue should be permanently corrected. Maybe it could possibly be a concern for some teams (I have no idea), but from what I've seen, it shouldn't be. Other athletes have had the procedure in recent years, and were completely fine.

Edit: Jameel McClain still seems like a good option for them at ILB later in the draft, as well.

I love the trades. Your day 1 is perfect for me. Your last 4 picks are excellent, especailly Adams becuase he has a lot of ST experience he can use while backing up Sanders/Harrison.
