Default The U-H 3-round mock....Pats picks

Well, I'm heading out soon, and probably won't be able to get up the complete 3-rounder until next Tuesday or so.....so I thought I'd just throw out the first few picks, plus the Pats, for discussion purposes....

1. MIA - Chris Long
2. STL - Dorsey
3. ATL - Jake Long
4. OAK - Gholston
5. KC - Clady
6. Trade...NYJ trades #6, Dwayne Robertson, and a 4th to BAL for #8 & 38. BAL takes Matt Ryan.
7. Trade...NE trades #7 to DET for #15 & 76. If NE keeps the pick it's Groves. DET takes McFadden.
8. NYJ - Ellis
9. CIN - Rivers
10. NO - McKelvin
11. BUF - M. Kelly
12. DEN - Philips
13. CAR - Harvey
14. CHI - D. Thomas
15. NE - Groves

48. ATL - T. Porter
49. PHI trades #49 to NE for #62 & 94. NE takes Cason.

69. Goff

76. Demps. Best player on my board here is WR Bennett, but he'd probably be inactive every game, so the choice was between WR Royal and S Demps, as they add value in the return game.

Recap:
Q Groves
A Cason
J Goff
Q Demps

Strategy: Draft the best available Quentin

I prefer take a CB in First Round, and Avril in second or third.

Love the Goff pick!

OLB candidate (current DE)
CB
ILB
S
I guess that you are really thinking of going all D, all the time in this years draft. I like your choices but I'm really thinking that we might go O-Line on one of our first day picks. Then again, I thought that last year...

I know the Heatster sees the draft well, but I was under impression Cason doesn't last much into the 2nd. Is this possible or are you wearing Patriots goggles?

That would be a great draft, BTW, IMO.

Define "not lasting much into the second"...... pick 49 is right about half way thru the second round......

Looks good!

Does that mean the Pats will be hiring Quentin Tarantino to make their films?

I should re-word as early second round as the latest. Which is picks 32-42 (top 1/3rd.)

If I'm not mistaken, (don't have my notes), he's the 7th CB taken. It seems possible to me that he'd be there at 49. We talk about him quite a bit, but I don't think he enjoys such support from other fanbases.

Me likey except for the Demps pick. Assuming Meriweather stays at safety (I wouldn't assume a move to CB would be successful), how many do we need? Particularly when #76 is a prime place to catch a slipping CB after all the other teams have gorged themselves on the position. Some of the following will likely be around at that point in the draft:

Branden Flowers
Chevis Jackson
Terrell Thomas
Zach Bowman
Dwight Lowery
Trae Williams

I know the Pats can't possibly like all these guys, but I would figure at least one of them would make their draft board. So dump Demps and pour me a Chevis and you got yourself a deal...
