Default Schefter: Falcons could sign Turner by Sunday

I figured this was quite relevent to the Patriots draft, and specifically Darren McFadden. The Falcons were one of the teams needing a RB upgrade and a possible McFadden suitor. Now it appears it's just the Jets and Raiders who could be tempted to take McFadden before the Patriots and if it's the Jets, that would likely mean Gholston is available.

If neither team takes him, the Pats become even more of a trade down candidate. Or maybe they think McFadden is a generational talent and draft him, forget WR's, go with a 40 rush per game attack and play clock control football.

Any thoughts or predictions on the draft after this news?

Interesting. I would say the top 8 will go:

1. Miami: Ryan
2. STL: J. Long
3. Atl: Gholston
4. Oak: S. Ellis
5. NE trade with KC: Chris Long
6. Jets: McFadden
7. KC: Clady
8. Balt: Rodgers-Cromartie.

Why would the Falcons want Turner? Don't they have 2 capable RBs in Dunn and Norwood? It kind of reminds we of Oakland last year when they just signed a bunch of RBs (jordan, rhodes, fargas, michel bush) and hoped someone stuck

Raiders wouldn't pick Long???? Why wouldn't they?

Dolphins could pick him as well...

Left Field Mock

1. NE trade: C long (+J Taylor)
2. STL: J. Long
3. Atl: Gholston
4. Oak: S. Ellis
5. KC: Clady
6. Jets: McFadden
7. Miami: Ryan
8. Balt: Rodgers-Cromartie.

Trade Miami: 1st overall pick + Jason Taylor
For NE: 7th overall, 2nd(63), 3rd (70) from Oak. (Maybe plus a 09 pick)

This would keep a late 3rd for a CB. Although any number of possibilities involving multiple 08 and 09 picks could be applied here to include for this trade to go with the 7th overall.

Cap room? 19M - unfortunately that doesn't appear to fit when you include Randy at the moment does it.

Oh HELL NO. You did not just trade the Pats entire draft for Long, and then stick us with the #1 overall pick SALARY as well as having to pay for Jason Taylor! No sorry, that's not left field, it's a nightmare!
