Default Post your Pre-combine (Patriots) Mocks here?

Haven't seen one of these yet this year, but it should be good for discussion. We know who's in the draft and who isn't and we've seen some practice footage and measurements.

There would seem to be some key offseason moves that could affect this draft. I am assuming that Moss returns along with Washington, but not Stallworth. I'll assume that Samuel leaves and Gay is resigned. I think we'll bring in an inside linebacker in FA and Seau will return, while Bruschi will retire.

1. Ryan Clady, LT, Boise State
2. Dominique Rodgers-Crowmartie, CB, Tennessee State
3. DeMario Pressley, DE, North Carolina State
3. Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa
4. Jonathan Goff, ILB, Vanderbilt
5. D.J. Wolfe, S, Oklahoma
6. Kellen Davis, TE, Michigan State
7. Marcus Monk, WR, Arkansas

The drafting of an early OT, like Clady, could lead to the trading of Kazcur or O'Callahan.

Assuming the loss of Stallworth, Samuel and Bruschi plus addition of an inside linebacker like Dansby or Hobson.

1. Vernon Ghoslton OLB/DE Ohio State
2. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB Tennesse State
3. Chris Johnson RB ECU
3. Trae Williams CB South Florida
4. Philip Wheeler ILB Georgia Tech
5. Johnathan Heffney S Tennessee
6. Duane Brown OT Virginia Tech
7. Jerimichael Finley TE Texas

1. Chris Long DE/OLB Virginia (we probably have to trade up to get him)
2. Antoine Cason CB Arizona (ball hawk and we may need to trade up to get him too)
3. Jeremy Leman ILB Illinois (overachiever but did have a less than spectacular Rose Bowl performance)
3. Dwight Lowery CB San Jose St. (good ball skills)
4. Bruce Davis DE/OLB UCLA (sack machine but may need to put on more weight for our systerm)
5. Craig Stevens TE California (very good blocker, but needs to work on hands)
6. Thomas DeCoud S California (very good with run support, needs to work on pass coverage)
7. Justin Forsett RB California (small but solid and has some shifty moves. durability may be a concern but would be a nice change of pace back)

I'm sure my list will look completely different after the Senior Bowl and Combines but this was a fun preliminary mock! lol

I really like Monk. That would be a great pick that late. I've watched every Arkansas game that's been on TV the past few seasons. Monk was able to produce even though Arkansas has had lousy QBs. He was amazing last year-- almost 1000 yds and 11 TDs.

Now we are talking...
Assumptions
Return - Moss, Bruschi, Izzo, Gay
Leave - Stallworth

1. Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
*TRADED BACK to middle of round 1, pick up an extra pick in 2009
- this was a hard one, Phillips is also appearing, one of the reasons the Pats have played such vanilla coverages is their Safeties cannot be left alone with a WR, if Phillips is as good as they say then he could become a dynamic tool for evil Bill
- in the end I went with a pass rusher, a dominant front seven can really help a young secondary
2. Red Bryant, DT, Texas A&M
- this was a tough one, I also like Carl Nicks from Nebraska
3. Philip Wheeler, ILB, Georgia Tech
- comes in on 3rd downs
3. Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech
- 4th CB, Richardson, Williams, Willie Andrews, Mixon fight for 3rd CB
4. Criag Steltz, SS, LSU
- special teams, takes over for Harrison or Sanders in 2009
5. Kirk Barton, OT/OG, Ohio State
- reserve guard / tackle
6. Thomas Brown, RB, Georgia
- PS, eventual replacement for Faulk
7. Paul Hubbard, WR, Wisconsin
- PS, developmental player

Wooo-Hooo

I'm using your assumptions, but I'm calling for a trade. We seem to have a friendly trading relationship with Chicago, and I can see them trading up if Sedric Ellis is on the board. And so, we trade Chicago our first and fourth round picks for Chicago's first (#14) and second (#45). Chicago has an extra pick early in the third round, so they could be willing to do this.

1. Vernon Gholston OLB - Ohio State
2. Aqib Talib CB - Kansas
2. Andre Caldwell WR - Florida
3. Reggie Smith S - Oklahoma
3. Brad Cottam TE - Tennessee
5. John Greco OT - Toledo
6. Josh Johnson ILB - Marshall
7. Justin Tryon CB - Arizona St

FAs:
Jeremy Zuttah G - Rutgers
Marcus Thomas RB - UTEP
Albert Young RB - Iowa
Jason Shirley NT - Fresno St
Trevor Scott OLB - Buffalo

Two things here:
(1) Do you really think Talib will be available at 45? Most recent mocks have him going in the top 20.
(2) If this happens, I'm sure Patriots Nation will be thrilled at the prospect of four more years of Caldwell eyes. -->

We'll see after the combine. Cornerback is deep, and some are going to fall. Jenkins, Cason, Ikeguwona, McKelvin, Porter, Lee, Godrey, Williams, Lowery, etc. can't all be top 40 picks, so we'll see how it shakes out. I'd be happy with Ikeguwona or Lowery in that spot....or Felix Jones, whom I resisted taking there as much as I like him.

I was going to post one with a trade-down as well. No need. Yours will do quite nicely.
