Florida CB Janoris Jenkins was arrested for the 2nd time in his UF career for possession of marijuana earlier this week. Today, he got kicked off the team, although both sides said it was a "mutual decision".
Jenkins is a Top 10 talent, with a UDFA head. Kid just cost himself millions, but the talent is still there. Obviously, he won't be in the draft, but he should be in the Supplemental Draft. We know BB likes Florida kids, isn't scared of the Florida kids with pot habits, and there's the connection with Urban Meyer.
Wonder if the Pats pick up an extra 2012 pick or two this week with an eye towards using it on Jenkins in the Supplemental Draft.

Read that today. Shocked that some of these kids just can't stay off the chronic while they wait for their millions to arrive. I'm sure there is more to this story than a failed drug test. Other things at work here.
Could definitely be an interesting supplemental draft with Jenkins, Terrelle Pryor and Michael Floyd all posibilities to enter. All big risks but huge upsides.

Sorry, Hernandez's reported pot habits where in the past unless I missed something. Jenkins just provided fresh evidence that he's not ready for primetime. This might just be a Parcells' "in the box" kid. If he comes out in the Supplemental, why would NE, whom everybody is fussing over their "five" draft picks in 2012, use one of those scarce commodities on this kid? (Yes, I understand NE might have more 2012 picks once the draft is over, but that's speculation, not fact at this moment. I have enough doubts about the future with this garbage in the courts to have reservations about trading back to pick up future picks in 2012.)

Of all the antitrust activities that sports leagues do, and the preference of the Lawyers like De Maurice to win in court, versus collectively negotiate, the Player Draft is the most obviously and patently illegal.
BB could be using up draft picks that will soon be worthless. Not having a missing 6th and 7th in 2012, if there is a Draft, is hardly intimidating. This year was the first that the Pats did not get a compensatory 6th or 7th.

That may be a reason to use them in the supplemental, but why use them on the Jenkins kid?

FWIW, the two years they played together, Jenkins was every bit Joe Haden's equal, in my opinion.
THAT would be a reason to use a pick on the kid. He's supremely talented. You just have to be willing to overlook/deal with the kid's baggage.
Which is why I don't see NE shopping for him.
