I see Ingram as a choice, not a choice, if that makes sense.

To me, a true WTF choice is somebody like Mankins. Even those of us who where high on him hadn't put him into the first-round discussion because we'd been blinded by vague "value" impressions.

I'm thinking a McCourty/Cunningham-style move, where popular wisdom has other guys at the same position rated higher. Jabaal Sheard is just about perfect.

I tend to agree with Patchick (surprise, surprise). Along those lines, then, what if BB drafted someone with character concerns or who is considered middle of the pack by positional rankings?

Imagine Kenrick Ellis at 17 . . .

I wont be at all surprised if we trade #17, #28 and #33 and end up with 3 second round picks and 3 x 1s next year

Then Bill and the FO find all their value in the second, third and fourth

I suspect that will be met by huge collective groans but i have a feeling Bill wont think much of the first round talent this year

My WTF choice is Quinn, especially if they move up for him. I just see him as a guy far removed from the Patriot Way

You think so? If they are ever going to get a DE I would guess it would be this draft. No draft is ever perfect but I can't remember a draft with so many quality players at the position. I'd agree on safety and OT though.

It definitely would be a WTF? move to me. It seems BB places too much value on linemen, linebackers, and dbs to use a first on a running back. The last time he did that he got burned on a supposed 3 down RB who looked for the world like a perennial pro-bowler at Minnesota.

I will say "WTF" if they actually select someone at 17 and not trade. I trust the Patriots draft selections though, so it won't be a bad WTF. Just more surprised.

The good thing is we are able to brace ourselves more effectively than in years past. Whoever they pick, no matter how awkward or out of place it seems at the time I will be able to talk myself into the pick because Belichick says so. His track record is just 2 damn good lately. If he takes Bailey or Sheard in the first? They must have pro bowl potential.
