Default Colorado CB Jimmy Smith

A very talented corner that should be selected on day one of the draft but because of character issues during combine interviews, there have been reported to be quite a few teams taking him off the boards.

If Smith falls to round 3 or later should be be a consideration?

He has some baggage but also has some skills hard to overlook.

No. He needs to go somewhere like Baltimore where there's a Ray Lewis/Ed Reed combo to cow him into comformation. He's a poor fit for NE's intellectual bunch, look how hard it has been getting Meriweather to toe the line. The Colorado kid to watch is Jalil Brown, a solid prospect to develop as a CB/FS/STs reserve.

I'd rather have Jimmy Smits from the pre-2000, NYPD Blue days to play CB.

We are discussing drafting a 1st round player in the 3rd round. It must be a slow day.

For the same reason I don't want him in the first round, I don't want him as an undrafted free agent.

Bad Attitude spreads like bacteria in a locker room/team environment.
Let the Bengals/Raiders take a gamble on him.
He'll make sportscenter a few times but come 3rd and 1 needing a stop, is he the guy? Or when it comes to doing the right thing - coming in watching film overtime - will he do that?

I don't think so.
This is not a guy to go to battle with.
Maybe the Jets will take him.
