Whenever I hear something like this about a QB my bust alarm goes off:

"Blah blah blah good size with a strong arm blah blah blah but has to work on his accuracy / consistency / concentration / maturity..."

What the hell, I'll go against conventional wisdom and predict AJ Green as a bust. Not a JerMarcus Russell bust, but a Ted Ginn, Reggie Bush - no way he can live up to the hype - type. He's listed as 6-4 and 212, but he looks very slight to me on film. I could see him as having an injury plagued career if he takes a few hits from NFL safeties over the middle.

Betting that big WRs will be busts is usually a pretty good bet. For every Calvin Johnson there is a whole slew of David Terrells.

I think the only legit top-5 QB might be Dalton and he won't go in round 1 (or possibly even round 2.) But I bet he turns out to be the best of the bunch, though who knows how good.
If he were sitting there at #74, would you take him?

I don't know how you base your prediction of never. He's a 5 technique in a 34 and a 3 tech in a 43. Being able to line up as a DE in one system and a Dt in another does not have the sign of bust to me. It's more like nice versatility. Are you questioning his ability, size or smarts? His amazing 10 yard split of 1.66? To some like yourself, he may not be an ideal fit in New England and thats fine. It's very hard to predict big athletic lineman of his size as a bust though. Or "not worthy of a top 10 pick" as you put it. I'm just wondering how you came to this conclusion?

I hope the 2 inches too short or 5 lbs too light or heavy argument isn't coming to play again. I hope it's not production either. Didn't really have chace to make tackles when other teams wouldn't even think of running his way.

Wow. Nice find.

I'll go with "there will be tons of busts this year" -- but none as epic as JaMarcus.

Indeed.

The very term "this year's JaMarcus Russell" overlooks the fact that Russell's spectacular failure was One Of A Kind.

It's like saying "This Year's Apocalypse." Those things only happen so often.

...None of which is to say this wasn't a very good idea for a thread, as it certainly was.

You can put me down as thinking that ALL FOUR of the top QB's will disappoint, with a Face Plant or two thrown in...and perhaps all FIVE.

i agree but i think he's a lot more like vince young, lots of talent but at some point he will have a melt down.

I don't think it will be anywhere near Russell's level, but I believe Ingram is going to surely dissappoint. Why- because so much of his yardage comes AFTER contact and i dont think he will break anywhere near as many tackles in the pros. His speed is limited and doesnt seem to have many moves. I expect him to look the way he did against South Carolina when he struggled against a disciplined defense(i think it was this game).

I think probably it's too early to get Brady's successor via the draft. That said, if I was of a mind that this was the year to do it, I think he'd be a decent one.

Just my opinion which isn't worth much, really.

EDIT: I don't know that we have roster room for QB3, but if so I'd take him. Possible he gets up to QB2 and possible he has value for trade later.
