Default Looking for opinions: Jerrel Jernigan v. Titus Young

Which of the two do you feel would have a better chance of success in the Patriots system, given the other current receivers? I'm just interested in people's take around here.

Both could work out from a talent stand point, Young has a history of off-field issues.

I could see Jernigan as an eventual replacement for Deion Branch considering they have similar size and he's a former QB so understands defenses and knows how to get open.

I have heard Maylock and a few others saying that Titus Young could be "Desean Jackson like" big play ability. That perks my interest.

I'm not dying for a WR, but I think that you have to take a look at Young or earlier if Baldwin from Pittsburg is on the board, tall fast, good hands.

A lot depends on how they run at the combine, but Jernigan really impressed me this past season.

If Young didn't have the baggage, I might be tempted, but then again it is easy playing against Idaho, Montana and New Mexico secondary's.

If Baldwin was meaner and nastier he could be the best WR in this draft, a lot depends on how he runs.

From what I have seen of them Titus Young seems more explosive a better big play threat. Jernigan seems to be more quick than fast similar to some of the receivers we have now. I wouldn't be surprised if Jernigan does well in interviews because of his QB past and they also both have returns kicks. Personally I prefer Young.

I think Young has a better chance for success for the Pats but I don't like either one. Jernigan looks like a fine receiver but would be completely redundant with what the Pats already have. Young can get deep but is skinny. He looks more breakable than Desean Jackson. Just can't see Belichick going for a receiver that he is afraid to send over the middle.

Young could be used as a niche/situational guy to take the top off the defense. I can't see what role Jernigan would have if Welker and Edelperson (not to mention Hernandez) are still on the team. I can think of quite a few better options at WR if the Pats want to go that route.

Both have a lot of talent, but they each have their issues as well. Young has documented off-field issues from early in his Boise State career and is a T.O./Ochocinco style of talker.

Jernigan has some issues with his down-the-field route-running.

Seems to me that Jernigan would make more sense (in general, not in comparison to Young) if the Patriots were not planning to bring back Welker after his contract is up, because he seems like a player who could shift from slot to outside and back.

Anyone think I'm reading that wrong?
