Default Ryan Kerrigan at #17

This is the guy i want with Oakland's pick. Here's a great article on him.

Purdue's Ryan Kerrigan is college football's best-kept secret - NCAA Football - SI.com

Now that we know where we're picking, the true draft nuts can come out and start some great draft talk! What does everyone else think of this guy? Seems like the ideal Patriot to me.

I would take him at 17. I originally want to take a D-lineman but with Warren coming back maybe taking the best OLB to anchor the side opposite Cunningham would make more sense and draft a DE at 32 or 33. historically BB doesn't draft OLB's though

I really love the flexibility of this draft for the Pats. We can pretty much move any way we want to for a player we want OR just sit and take our guy. I hope Kerrigan STAYS under the radar! Most mocks i've seen have him going right around #17 or lower, but depending on the combine and bowl, his stock could rise and push him higher.

What the hay, why not. I am on the Connor Kerrigan bandwagon. I just hope he can play a little TE...

Seriously, he has the right size for the scheme and production, not the other evil P word (potential). Plus He is strong as hell.

Haters will say he is slow, but Patriots OLBs have always been slow. They don't cover TEs down the field, the jam TEs / RBs off the line and drop into the flat. They aren't asked to cover a slot receiver. I think he would be a great bookend to Cunningham, all off a sudden the LBs are look young and very solid.

Front Seven
----ROLB - Cunningham, TBC,
RDE - TBD, likely G. Warren or draft pick, Brace
-------- RILB - Mayo
NT - Wilfork
-------- LILB - Spikes \ Guyton
LDE - T Warren, Wright
---- LOLB - Kerrigan, Moore, Ninko

Lets just do it...

I just posted this in another thread about how high Kerrigan might go, figured I might as well move it over here:

Quote:
I think the post-season rounds could push him significantly up or down. He's a funny sort of prospect because his game seems to be 90% waist-up: incredible use of powerful hands and arms, and great at the mental side of football (both in terms of awareness/reading plays and motor/leadership). But IMO he'll have to prove that his speed and agility aren't liabilities to be a top-20 pick.

Trade down to 25 and then pick him, take a 2nd or 3rd rounder for 2011. Then trade 32 or 33 for a first rounder in 2011.

Make 5 picks in the first 100 and leave with two firsts, two seconds in 2011.

I'm actually wanting two DE fairly early even at the expense of OLB.

Yes, Warren may "come back" but season ending hip surgery doesn't sound optimal for a 30 year old DE. Maybe he'll be the old Tiny but without him we have our current group of rotation guys with Brace being the only one who could possibly be a 3-4 year legit starting DE. I like Cunningham and Nink better than that group, although OLB is absolutely valid as a need I'd be looking for a guy there a little later and taking two DE (assuming solid value) in our top 4 picks with the other two going to the OL.

I'm not a "trenches are all that matter" guy but two DE and two OL could fortify our two most needy positions. Thanks to our multitude of picks we could still look at OLB, RB, S (if we aren't planning to sign #31 after 2011) twice in the 3rd round.

And I'll go back to the numbers question:

Wilfork
TWarren
GWarren
Wright
Brace
Pryor
Deaderick
Love
Rookie
Rookie
Free Agent

Which 7 do you want?

I just don`t see one I like in the first round. I like Kerrigan and Ayers at 17. I like OT there too, but there would seem to be 5-6 of similar skill slated to go between 15 and 35, so why take the first one at 17?

If we go OLB at 17, I wouldn`t be surprised if we traded 32 or 33 for a 2011 first to try to load up again for a freak DE.

I'll take those seven, apologies to Gerard Warren who's given us a solid season but is older and a FA and Wright who is probably nearing the end, unfortunately.
